Title: Topomax Done
Post by jimp63 on Jun 18th, 2007, 4:06pm
Update.  Hi evereyone.  I just finished my first ever course of Topomax for a rather lengthy cycle, 2 courses of Prednisone couldn't tame the beast this time around.  Anyone care to share their experience of coming off Topo; I'd like to have a heads up of what to possibly expect (rebound, cycle pick-up, PF!!! etc).  Thanks.

To take good care of your kidneys/ urinary tract and for prevention of probs cranberry juice and cranberry concentrate pills.  If kidney/urinary prob starts to act up I drink a TON of cranberry juice and take over the counter uristat.

I came off Topo over a period of a week after long usage, cut off 25mg every 2 days and had no side effects at all, just felt much more lively.

Cheers,

Wayne

Hi Debbie

It certainly worked very effectively for me for killing the beast but I found at high dosages I was very 'light headed'. lower dosages were fine but not always 100%effective for CH control. Verapamil is a much better deal for me but we are all different and you're going to have to find out what works best for you. from your side, seeing that you're already on Verap I would suggest upping that dosage and see how it works before changing drugs as you have to wean off one before starting another and then the Topomax also takes a while to get going properly.

Cheers,

Wayne
