Title: Awareness?? Post by WaitingAgain on Jun 1st, 2007, 11:18am So the last three days have been BRUTAL! Yesterday, it got to the point where my wife couldn't see me go through the pain any longer and we started off to the hospital. Upon arriving my CH went away and life was good again...or was it? Since we were already there, my wife still wanted me to see the Doctor to get something to deal with the pain if they returned. During my 5 hours of sitting in the Emergency wing (to my surprise they didn't return), I spoke to 3 nurse's and none of them had any awareness of this condition. They sat there with amazement as I continually explained my symptoms, and diagnosis, and actually tried to tell me that I shouldn't be taking Verapamil...they didn't see the purpose (they didn't know the condition)? Finally, I saw the Doctor and experienced the same thing?????? It is incredible that there is not more awareness to this condition since it causes such pain, and interfers so such with our quality of life. How many of us does there need to be in order for this to change? I finally recieved a prescription for Trex, and luckily the beast hasn't returned...yet. Hopefully places like this will help get the word out! |

Title: Re: Awareness?? Post by Guiseppi on Jun 1st, 2007, 11:59am Sadly there isn't much awareness. We find ourselves doing a lot of educating. Print out the materials from this site and use them to educate your doctor. If you aren't already using it, get oxygen. Read the links on it, it must be used at a high flow rate, up to 15 LPM, with a non re breather mask, assuring you get pure oxygen. For me it will abort an attack in less then 10 minutes. Many on the board have had great success with it. Hoping you get a break soon. Guiseppi |
