Title: Stuffy Sinus Afterwards? Post by SimOliLan on Jun 1st, 2007, 11:08am Hey guys! Im new here and Im extremely glad I found this place. CHs are freaking awful things... I have most, if not all, the regular symptoms, but I was wondering if its common for the sinus congestion part to continue 24/7. So far, my right ear, my right jaw, and my throat constantly feel irritated. Sorta feels like I have a cold, the whole "hurts when you swallow" thing. But that might be because I have wisdom teeth coming out, I dont know. :-/ But anyway Im glad to be here and I wish you all better days! |

Title: Re: Stuffy Sinus Afterwards? Post by Guiseppi on Jun 1st, 2007, 12:02pm I get the runny nose on the affected side but it leaves at about the same rate as my CH. My guess is your symptoms are more from the wisdom tooth, but that's just a guess!! Do you have a solid regimen for dealing with your CH? A good preventative and an abortive? Oxygen, imitrex, or??? This is a great place to get sugeestions and to share what has and hasn't worked for you. It's how all of us learn! Welcome to the board! Guiseppi |

Title: Re: Stuffy Sinus Afterwards? Post by barry_sword on Jun 1st, 2007, 12:38pm Hi and nice to meet you. My Cluster side starts the nasal drip just before the hit and all during the hit then goes away when the attack is over. And lets not forget about the leaky eye. What is your name? Barry |

Title: Re: Stuffy Sinus Afterwards? Post by Gator on Jun 1st, 2007, 3:16pm For me, the stuffy/runny sinus usually starts just before an attack. It usually clears up soon after the attack is over. I often don't realize I'm sniffling, but my wife hears me sniffle more than a few times and she asks me if I'm fixing to have an attack. Sure enough, within minutes, that old familiar twinge starts up behind my right eye. |

Title: Re: Stuffy Sinus Afterwards? Post by SimOliLan on Jun 2nd, 2007, 5:07am the names simon. and i havent really gotten the dripping nose or watery eyes... in fact, im not even positive i have CH. but im awake as it is right now, third night in a row, same time. ive had some headaches in my time, but nothing like this... is it possible to have CH without the running nose and such? my right eye feels terrible, my temple is killing me, and everything in between those 2 feel like they're about to explode! i suppose im just trying to figure out if i really do have CH... i almost feel tempted to drink a beer and see if it triggers anything. also, i took a nap yesterday and that seemed to trigger a headache. i dont have any preventative or abortive measures, altho i regularly drink lots of water. so far, all 3 of my headaches have lasted from 3AM till 5AM, including this morning. and to think that i have to work in 2 hours... maybe i shouldnt self-diagnose myself with CH, but these headaches feel so messed up... anyway, any suggestions are appreciated! |

Title: Re: Stuffy Sinus Afterwards? Post by mynm156 on Jun 2nd, 2007, 5:13am There is an attack called a Silent Cluster. I get these ALL THE TIME!! They are stuffy, runny nose water eye without the pain. This originally prompted me to believe that I have allergies but it was until I learned of these that I figured out what it was. Also I went through the allregy panel and they found me allregic to nothing. Good Vibes and welcome!!! MYNM156 |

Title: Re: Stuffy Sinus Afterwards? Post by Gator on Jun 2nd, 2007, 10:27am You are correct in that you should not try to self diagnose. There are conditions that mimic the various headache types that need to be checked out before a diagnosis is pronounced. You should go see a doctor, explain what you are experiencing and hopefully get a correct diagnosis. Start keeping a headache diary (http://www.ouch-us.org/downloads/headache_diary.pdf). This will let you track your headaches as they develop, record the effectiveness of your treatments and help your doctor make a better diagnosis. As far as CH goes, not everyone gets all the extra symptoms along with the pain. The IHS criteria only requires one for the diagnosis of CH, so just because your nose doesn't run or your eye doesn't water, that doesn't rule out CH. See your doctor. |

Title: Re: Stuffy Sinus Afterwards? Post by swimchica623 on Jun 2nd, 2007, 1:45pm I see the topic has changed some but to answer your original question... Sometimes, like Gator too, I get sniffy before hits. Sometimes I get really stuffy sometime during it (don't notice when as you can understand!) but that will stay for sometimes after and the same trend can happen with a really runny nose..its different each time. When I'm going through a particularly bad time, my nose can feel permentantly stuffed for awhile. Then, I'll get one hit that will be unbelievably runny and my nose will be nice and clear! So...everyonee is different and even in one person, there are lot of different ways to be stuffy and runny! Hope you can get things figured out with your doctor too and have some nice pf days your way soon. :) Lisa |
