I'm in an episodic period of cluster headaches right now, and I've been getting this sharp, tingling, stabbing pain, on my left side (where I get the CH's) right in the back. It lasts for about 5 seconds, then goes away, happening a a number of times a day.
I really don't know another way to explain this more, but I was just wondering if anyone else experiences this, too?

Please, let me know.

Sure do, I call them aftershocks, like quick little zaps. In some sort of weird way it's kind of a cool feeling. kinda hurts but tingles at the same time!

May or may not be helpful ::) , but I'd look up CPH (http://www.mhni.com/faqs_other_head.aspx#cph) and compare sypmtoms. Have you ever tried Indomethacin ?

They also happen to me at the end of a hit, just before it subsides. They may occur several times in succession.

Blu-Ocean,

Are you talking about getting this tingling, stabbing pain on the left side of your back? Or the back of your head? It sounded from your question like you are talking about your back--if you are I know exactly what you are talking about and I don't know what it means, but I have that in one spot on my back (on left side I get hit left side too) during cluster period. I told a doc about it once. But he didn't seem to know what it was.

It's kinda like right next to/just kinda underneath the shoulderblade--is that what you are talking about? It's not a part of the actual headache experience, just sets in when cluster period starts and stays there for I think most of it--like it's this stabbing pain on and off during the day.

I get occasional nerve farts, but they are over so quickly that I don't think much of them. Kinda weird, no?

I think this is the first time that I've seen Indomethacin mentioned. here. I had a neuro drug pusher five years ago who had me give this and other stuff a try. It didn't do anything for the CH, but seemed to be kicking in and making me goofy after the beast had run its course.

O2 was the real winner for me.

O2 was the real winner for me.

Indomethacin is not usually effective for CH, but if the patient actually had CPH, it would be nearly 100% effective. It's worth a try in most all cases for at least a week or two.

CPH jabs I call them...which is prolly an injustice due to the fact I do not have CPH...thank GOD, it (CPH) may the the only thing worse than CH.........and I was given Indomethician to try years ago to no avail.
