Title: How many of you.... Post by aubmari on May 3rd, 2007, 3:46pm have had a history of migranes and clusters as well? There seems to be alot of discussion on the relationship between the two. Do the majority of us have both types of headaches? I started getting migranes at age 4-5 and they ended shortly before I got my first episode of CH. I have only had a couple of migranes since CH. Just curious. Aubmari |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by Erika on May 3rd, 2007, 4:00pm My husband never had a headache in his life and couldn't imagine what they were - actually started thinking people were making them up since he had never experienced one - until age 33 when CH started |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by Guiseppi on May 3rd, 2007, 4:13pm The only health problems I ever had was pleurisy (spelling?) when I was 12, the ch started at about 18. Have never had migrains. (Don't know what I'd do with a headache that went 24 hours, owie!) Guiseppi |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by BarbaraD on May 3rd, 2007, 6:50pm Never had ANY headaches until CH -- now I've developed Arthritic Migraines. Well, all my ailments are in my head! ::) Family history of migraines on my dad's side. Thought I'd missed those, but .... None of them hit me till after menapause. Maybe it's a payback for my misspent youth. :( Hugs BD |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on May 3rd, 2007, 7:42pm I never had headaches at all. I could bang my head hard, get hungover and everything else and never get a headache. Never had a migraine. No-one in my family is diagnosed with migraines, but my sister gets headaches that last for days. Its possible she does have migraines. |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by JeffB on May 3rd, 2007, 8:35pm Never had bad headaches. Had the ones when I wasn't feeling well and when I had a sinus thing. Those were far and few between. Not until the early part of the 90's did the CH hit. My pops and sister would have migraines that would last days. I think it was a condition my dad has and my sister gets them just because she's an evil wench spawned by Satan and is probably the next Anti Christ. That last one was just a theory, but I bet science could prove me right! |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by ClusterChuck on May 3rd, 2007, 9:25pm As a kid (879 years ago) I used to have a lot of tension type headaches. I had two or three a week. But aspirin (back then, chewing willow bark) took care of them. Funny thing is, since I started clusters, 28 years ago, I have not had one tension headache! Hmmmm .... Chuck |

This may be a fine point, but I beg to differ. Although I have never had a DNA test to confirm that I am human, I have borne the pain of CH for more than 16 years and I'm still here posting this evening. |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by George_J on May 4th, 2007, 12:57am Don't get tension headaches. Have never had a migraine--only episodic CH. I very rarely get a sinus headache, usually when the weather changes rapidly. But those aren't even worth mentioning to anyone, so I don't. "You call that a headache?................" "THIS is a headache." ;) Best, George |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by burnt-toast on May 4th, 2007, 7:02am No Migraines... No family history of Migranes, CH, other recurring headache types or even sinus issues... Until my mid. 30's I was the type that didn't give much credibility to those suffering from recurring headaches. Then one day CH decided it was time to change my opinion of the subject. BTW, after CH had entrenched itself, I once contracted West Nile Encephalitis and experienced 11 straight days of continous/very extreme headache. Mirgraines may be no picnic, but from my experience even Encephalitis doesn't deliver the show-stopping pain of CH attacks. Tom |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by birdman on May 4th, 2007, 7:57am Just CH's and the occasional stress/tension headache. Though like many, I was misdiagnosed with migraine for many years. Thank God I finally found a headache clinic. Up till then (15years) I had no treatment other then imitrex tablets. If I ever see that old neuro again, God help me! |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by aubmari on May 4th, 2007, 10:23am Thank you all for your info!! ;) I had just seen it mentioned a few times lately and was curious if it was common to have both, like I do. Although I would definately say I would prefer a migrane to this crap. Ch for me is so unpredictable as far as length and hits that at least with Migranes I new that in a day or less it would be gone. :-[ I think you all are great alien or not. ;;D Aubmari |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by rbmb on May 4th, 2007, 2:10pm Never had a migraine. I get tension headaches occasionally.....nothing an OTC pill couldn't take care of.CHs, however, are a different horse. I've had a few injuries and illnesses in my life but never really experienced pain until I started getting CHs. Rich |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by goodolboy on May 7th, 2007, 2:21pm I have a history of migraines in my family so I’ve had a few. There a more of a long drawn out headache that’s on both sides of my head from my temples all the way back to the base of the skull. The worst part of a migraine is the nausea and vomiting. A CH is 10 times more intense, feels like someone is takin’ a branding iron to my eye. I can’t remember the last time I had a migraine, I defiantly remember every CH cycle. |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by Virginian on May 7th, 2007, 7:08pm I have few headaches-- other than the episodic CHs -- which more than compensate for the scarcity of the others. |

Title: Re: How many of you.... Post by blmiller84 on May 9th, 2007, 6:18pm Both my parents suffered from migraines, two different types from the info I've gotten from them. Mother w/o aura, father w/aura plus other various differences. I've always had various types of horrible headaches. I remember having horrible ones when I was little and no one really believing me for how bad the pain was. Diagnosed with migraines around age 14 or so after having them for about 3 years if not longer. My migraines hit me daily with a few hours of no pain in the morning after I wake up. This can last for just one day up to a month. Plus the aura. Diagnosed with CH about 2 years ago, at age of 20. It took the headache clinic a little bit to go "ah, CH as well". And right now I'm about 3 weeks after my last CH cycle ended and dealing with a mild migraine. I so hate my aura. The CHs are only nice in the fact that I don't see those tiny dots flying around and the foggy-ness. This is the first solo migraine I've had in probably about a year. Much easier to deal with than a CH, though. |
