Title: My head's sore... Post by BarbaraD on Apr 18th, 2007, 9:50am For some reason my head is sore on the cluster side. I'm not getting hit, but my head is just sore as the devil, like someone hit me. It hurts to touch it. Does anyone else have this happen. I've been on topamax for over a month and haven't really been hit since I went on it, but I'm still getting an ear ache and my head is really sore. I just don't remember this ever happening before. Title: Re: My head's sore... Post by chrisw on Apr 18th, 2007, 9:58am That always happens to me. Even after hits stop, my temple area aways stays sore to the touch for weeks afterward. Its like the beast is telling my not to let my guard down, because he is still in there just waiting for his chance to strike again. During cycles, that area is very sore . chrisw |

Title: Re: My head's sore... Post by Kevin_M on Apr 18th, 2007, 10:11am Check to see if there is a pea under your fluffy feather mattress near the headboard. Is it the side you mostly use for tax figurin' too. j/k I've had that very infrequently but only at times I was getting hit often and it lasted a little while. Don't know Barb, without getting hit maybe it is a muffled affect of a phantom hit or a reaction of sensitized nerves endings on that side. Is it warm? on 04/18/07 at 09:41:42, BarbaraD wrote:

Title: Re: My head's sore... Post by Gator on Apr 18th, 2007, 12:47pm My cluster side sometimes gets sore around my temple, eye and upper jaw like that after getting pounded with attack after attack for a while, kind of like now, but not any other time. |

Title: Re: My head's sore... Post by Sandy_C on Apr 18th, 2007, 1:39pm Not unusual at all for me either, when in cycle. My right temple (cluster side) is very sore to the touch during the cycle, and for several days after the cycle ends. Like Chris said, don't let my guard down just yet. Hope you feel better soon. PF wishes and hugs. Sandy |

Title: Re: My head's sore... Post by George_J on Apr 18th, 2007, 1:46pm After a really bad attack, I often have residual pain and "headache hangover" for several hours. It doesn't last for the duration of the cycle, though. Sounds like it sucketh, Barb. Best, George |

Title: Re: My head's sore... Post by BarbaraD on Apr 18th, 2007, 1:49pm It's not really at the temple, but in the top of my head. When I brush my hair I do it very gently. I've had hangovers that had this effect, but those were all over my head not just in one spot. Guess Mr. Demon is just letting me know he hasn't forgotten me. And I took the calculator out from under my pillow -- maybe the sore spot will get better now ;) Hugs BD |

Title: Re: My head's sore... Post by Sandy_C on Apr 18th, 2007, 4:45pm Barb, don't worry about the calculator - check for the pea! Seriously, My scalp on the right side will sort of tingle, itch, when I shampoo. This is not when I'm in cycle, but, over the years I've learned to recognize this feeling that is is usually the beginning of another cycle. This is my "signal". The cycle may not start for a week or two, but, inevitably it does start. I think that the nerve endings in our scalp, and temple areas are so very sensitive, that they know beforehand that bad things are going to happen. I trust those little sensitive thingamabobs. So far, they've never failed. Bottom line....I don't shampoo as often as I should. ;;D |

Title: Re: My head's sore... Post by kcopelin on Apr 18th, 2007, 6:04pm I can relate, Barbara. My head stays sore most of the time. Maybe I'll get some of that hot pepper stuff and rub it on my scalp. Or not. ::) Sorry you're going through this though. Sandy, you crack me up [smiley=laugh.gif] PFDAN y'all, kathy |

Title: Re: My head's sore... Post by Samiam on Apr 18th, 2007, 8:00pm Funny you said that Barb, That's why I stopped the topamax because of my head becoming so sore. I felt like someone slammed my head with a hammer one week after starting the med. I had to stop. Hope you feel better soon, Sami |

Title: Re: My head's sore... Post by Rosybabe on Apr 19th, 2007, 6:39pm Barb, my scalp is sore too, and not only during cycle, I think is sore all the time, maybe the nerves endings in my head are tender after having so much pain ...when I go to have my hair done I normally comb my hair myself and then I let the lady cut it..I just can't stand someone touching my head period, not even for a massage. |

Title: Re: My head's sore... Post by pieface_49 on Apr 19th, 2007, 9:27pm Hello Barb, The temple sore to the touch. The scalp/hair a little sore to the touch. The front and back of the head may be sore to the touch, especially the front. Remember pressing certain spots on the forehead and it being sore and causing pain. The neck/shoulders sore. Only after a bad hit. Once the hit is over, the rest comes into play, not before. 3 weeks after the cycle ended, am just getting relief from the aforementioned. My last cycle I had no drugs to help me get through until the end. Misdiagnosed for 4 years. Indocin may have helped me at the end of the cycle. Perhaps ended the cycle? It is hard to say. Perhaps the topamax helped, but did not stop the rebound headache? There are no warnings concerning taking Topamax and the symptoms you describe. http://headaches.about.com/od/medicationprofiles/a/topamax_profile.htm Donnie |
