Title: sharp objects
Post by Yorky on Mar 28th, 2007, 10:07pm
just starting cycle, and was wondering
as my attacks begin, and the pain gets to my eye..
if i see a tip off a knife (or anything with a point, corner of table etc) it seems to infuriate my pain ?

that is strange,
never heard of that, but everyone is different.  try not to think about it.

mind plays goofy tricks on us when we are in pain. When I have a hit I normally have problems focusing my eyes on anything, just the plain effort to look at something hurts, maybe that is what you are experiencing..hang in there...it will be over soon  :)

I cuss at it and it seems to infuriate it. Hopefully your cycle will be short lived. I am grateful there are medications that help.

We are not any different than you are.  We are just clusterheads.  You deal with your version, we deal with ours.

I sometimes think you episodics have it worse than chronics.  You get PF periods, but you are petrified as to when it is going to start again.  I get lots of hits every day.  I know this, I work around it.   I know every day is going to be that way.

Most important, for ALL of us, we can't dwell on the hits.  Dwell on the PF time between hits.

REFUSE to let the beast win, and take control of your life!

Chuck

don't you wish that incantations that involved repeated and varied use of the "f" word were effective? Perhaps finding ways to integrate the "f" word into a conversation, alternating some form of the "f" word into at least every 3 words.

I've never had that happen to me either. I just seem compelled to find a cool plaster wall or bathroom tile and bang my head against it over and over. :-[

I have thought about using sharp objects during the really bad hits (always had a urge to use my letter opener to dig that bastard out) sharp corners I try to avoid during the blast since I am usually thrashing about in the bathroom at 2-3 am and am afraid my wife might wake up one morning with a bloody bathroom from me hitting my head, and i dont need her yelling im making a mess ontop of these bastards. As for the F-bombs go ahead and use them -whatever gets you through the hit without bodily harm.

No, I don't think so.  It's a psychological reaction of some sort, I suppose.

With me, it's those little green, red, or blue LED lights on electronic equipment.  I can't look at any of them when I'm getting hit--they seem to bore a hole right through my skull.  (I'm not particularly light-phobic either.)

I know it doesn't make any sense, but it's true nevertheless.  I guess if you're crackers, so am I.

Best,

George
