Title: using O2 question on how.... Post by Samiam on Mar 15th, 2007, 8:17am When using O2 during an attack do you breath deep and slow or do you do rapid breathing? I'm able to breath slow and do control breathing during an attack but I'm not sure if this is how you are suppose to do this. and of course we are not talkin about a kip 7 or better. Now with the new machines when the attack ends I just shut one machine down (5lpm) if I want or I can lower that then shut it down and that leaves me with 10 LPM flow and I wean down from that also if needed. This makes it much easlier since with the tanks and the regulator on my them I could only do 15 to 10 with out weaning if I needed to. Sami |

Title: Re: using O2 question on how.... Post by LeLimey on Mar 15th, 2007, 8:59am Sami I try to breathe as slowly and deeply as possible, apart from anything else it helps me cope as I count while breathing in and out - I usually make it to 4 each way but that's as slow as I can manage. It helps me concentrate on getting rid of the pain and not giving in to it. If I breathe in and out to fast it only makes things worse for me but - we're all different! You have to find what works best for you by trial and error but I hope it helps hearing how some of the rest of us work. |

Title: Re: using O2 question on how.... Post by thebbz on Mar 15th, 2007, 10:23am Ok Sami! Dont be difficult. ;;D When your at k 7 or 8 you will consume 10 to 12 lpm. This varies as individual lung capacity. At rest you may consume only 5 to 7 lpm. Thats why clustermasx are so good. You only get 02 at the rate you consume it. When getting hit breathing normal is out of the question so do the best you can. The high flow rate is to saturate 02 blood levels causing constriction. Be careful with the concentrators. Hit the demon as fast as you can. These contraptions do not put out 100% 02 immediatly, so if you fail to abort with them go to the bottle next time. If you dont have a clustermasx get one you can tailor the 02 intake to what you consume only and save on the bottle. At this point I would just try to get as much 02 in you as quick as you can.....keep up the good fight all the best jb |

Title: Re: using O2 question on how.... Post by Guiseppi on Mar 15th, 2007, 10:30am I use a modified demand regulator so I do the empty the lungs all the way out breath, then an inhale as full as I can, and hold for 15 to 30 seconds. I always figured if I can get as much air out of my lungs as i can before I inhale, it would increase the percentage of pure oxygen in my lungs! Glad to hear it's helping you, it's my little security blanket when I'm in cycle! Guiseppi |

Title: Re: using O2 question on how.... Post by Samiam on Mar 15th, 2007, 11:08am Now look....if any of you are going to give me a problem I'm going to come over there and smack you with my air hose ;;D My little secret when in pain I stop breathing...LOL always have don't know why. I also have a very large lung capacity can free dive down to 25 ft without a problem so I just didn't know if I was to breath real fast or take it nice and slow. Now most of the time I like it nice and slow ;;D but didn't want to make a mistake. Yes this O2 is a God sent to me. Feeling a bit better today. I took 2 klonopin last night and a imitrex pill and slept like a baby. Today I feel like I'm on drugs hate that think I will cut back to 3/4 mg instead of 1mg. I'm having shadows mostly and the nights are the scaries for me. But I'm hanging in there. Now if the sun was shining and it was around 70 out I would be a happy camper but the weather is going to be changing and that always causes a problem for me when in cycle. Not to mention the PMS. Title: Re: using O2 question on how.... Post by Mac_Muz on Mar 15th, 2007, 2:35pm I got hit last night, earlier than most other times. Kip 7 I guess.... I haven't had a beer in 4 weeks and wondered mostly in anger after I was down to kip 2 or so if I might steal away with that idea, but I didn't... I have what you have now the all day shadow and pressure around my eye, and cheek.. I haven't been at the O2 since I am more or less at war with it, but my rig is a welding rig,,, I turn the O2 on and off as I breath, being cheap, something like what you appear to be.. LOL Don't get in a twit huh? I breath in deep and hold it for 10 seconds or so counting... More or less counting gives us something to do. I find you need to get on O2 as soon as you know the ch is coming and can head it off... I have discovered with me if I wait, I might as well not bother. The ch isn't going to go away if I wait too long... BUT that is me, and it may work for you. I can swim under water better than 75 yards, but I don't know that matters about anything one way or the other. I only posted so you wouldn't feel alone today... Mac |
