Title: Re: CH AND SWEATING Post by seasonalboomer on Mar 7th, 2007, 11:55am yup, hypothalamus is tied to thermoregulation in your body. so, when it is out of whack (like during cluster) it would be normal to expect that a little temp management whackiness may ensue. I sweat, then I get kind of chilly after they are done. The women-folk are a little more familiar with this syndrome....... Scott |

Title: Re: CH AND SWEATING Post by burnt-toast on Mar 7th, 2007, 3:32pm Yes, particularly with severe attacks. Not sure how something can be so painful and not cause permanent physical damage. Another comment on CH and sweating - Some of the drugs we get to take require stable sodium levels for our bodies to process them properly. Most are also expelled from our bodies through profuse sweating. If you excecise a lot and/or with summer's hot weather around the corner its important to keep this in mind. Best wishes, Tom |

Title: Re: CH AND SWEATING Post by KillerQueen on Mar 8th, 2007, 4:19pm I just noticed the sweating for the first time last night, but that was the first attack I've had to which I would assign a kip8 (I'm really picking up on this lingo, here)...I got the sweats and after the pain started to subside an hour later, I got the chills... |

Title: Re: CH AND SWEATING Post by Sandy_C on Mar 9th, 2007, 1:18pm Temperature rises, blood pressure rises, rocking and rolling, yes, I sweat during a hit. Then I freeze and have to wrap up in nice thick blankets for awhile. I would say, sweating during a hit is quite common. Sandy |

Title: Re: CH AND SWEATING Post by froggy on Mar 10th, 2007, 12:29am yes, that is one of the signs that tells me Tony is going to have a CH. If he gets really talkative, then it's going to be a big one. |

Title: Re: CH AND SWEATING Post by Gator on Mar 10th, 2007, 3:13pm Sometimes are worse than others, but yeah, I do too. on 03/10/07 at 00:29:19, froggy wrote:
Strange how we can telegraph the oncoming of an attack to our supporters and not realize it. Jane will know one is coming before I do sometimes. I start sniffling, but don't really realize I'm doing it at first. I suppose what that really says is that y'all love us and are sensitive to our little quirks. Supporters ROCK!!! |

Title: Re: CH AND SWEATING Post by Charlotte on Mar 10th, 2007, 5:48pm yep, to the sweating. and yep, to the supporters knowing before we do. Joe knows when I start the one sided nasal drip before I even notice. Charlotte |

Title: Re: CH AND SWEATING Post by BarbaraD on Mar 11th, 2007, 7:53am Yep - I usually go outside where it's cool (during the summer this is a pain - then the a/c gets turned down to freezing). BP goes up when I get hit and feels like my head is going to blow off (before the pain hits). Hugs BD |

Title: Re: CH AND SWEATING Post by E-Double on Mar 11th, 2007, 8:36am I do then I get the chills when the pain drain comes. I'm also a very "schvitzy" person in general. It could be 20 below and my brow is seems to always be beading. It sucks b/c the outward appearance can lead to the perception of me being a nervous person when in fact I am very relaxed and confident with most things in life. Damn hypothalmus f-ing up my regulatory system :-/ ;) |

I love that answer.... ;) Of course I'm ok -- I just have a fetish for sweating, crying in one eye, banging my head and acting like I need to be in the psyche ward!!! The first time I saw another Cher go into a hit, I immediately asked, "Can I do something to help you?" Well, Kip (of the Kip scale) very politely (he was such a polite man) told me to F*&^ OFF! :D Then there was the night in Atlanta that we almost lost DJ. I got hit during the dinner and politely took my meds and left the room. I was standing in an empty lobby banging my head on a granite wall, when DJ walks up and begins discussing some business that required rational thought. Luckily my meds kicked in before we got into anything specific, so he's alive to reproduce today. I don't know if he ever noticed I was not my usual happy self. But the good part is we can come here and laugh about it. That keeps us relatively sane (well, most of us). Hugs BD |

Nope, Barb, I AIN'T touching that one!!! On sweating: The first convention I went to, a fellow clusterhead held me to keep me from ripping my hair out, and smashing my head on the floor. For some reason, I allowed him, and other clusterheads, since then, to do that, where I have never let ANYONE else touch me while getting hit. BUT, he told me that he could tell how bad a hit it was, by my body temperature. He said on a KIP8 or higher, he almost couldn't touch me, as I was so hot. I never knew that in the over 25 years of the beast. Chuck |

Title: Re: CH AND SWEATING Post by EDHASFORDS on Mar 13th, 2007, 2:10pm My Doctor wanted me to have a (MRI) prior to my last Botox treatment and boy; WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! I was doing fine 1/2 way through it and the Beast came calling! So guess what happened? That little bubble that put in my hand! I almost burst it trying to get someones attention! The nurse came over and he said sir if you could only give us 20 more minutes we'll be done! I told him sir, do you see the sweat and the tears and the shaking? Do you think I can give you 20 minutes? He said I need to give you a shot of dye into your vains! I said I need a shot but it ain't dye! [smiley=cool2.gif] |
