Title: Can I take O2 on a plane?
Post by Judge_Smails on Mar 7th, 2007, 10:49am
I'm going on a business trip Friday and I just started a cycle.  I'm getting O2 delivered tomorrow and am getting some of the small portable canisters.  I'd love to be able to take 1 on my trip as a precaution, anyone know if this is possible or have any experience with this?

Thanks!

Airlines can have an aversity to oxygen on a plane and to bring your own is not recommended.  Some will absolutely allow none on board and will not supply any and others may be able to supply an amount for a fee which is not cheap.  Check with the airline you are flying with or their website.

* there is a thread "taking a trip" presently on the general board with advice, also.

I'll give you the same advice I gave the other thread.

Find an O2 supplier at your destination, call them, fax them your script, and have them deliver a tank to your hotel room. Bring your mask and regulator with you.

During the flight, stay awake, drink coffee and bring your "other" abortive (imitrex, for instance).

Airlines in the US will not allow you to bring an Oxygen tank. They will allow oxygen generators, but not tanks.

Where are you going? You'll find a member here who lives where you are going and can point you to an O2 supplier.

Thanks for the advice!

I'll be in Vegas for a business convention so I'll look into O2 suppliers in that area.  Although, if the urban myth is accurate maybe I can just hang out in the casino and let the pumped in O2 go to work  ;;D

Hey Judge!

Just stay away from smokers, you do not want the beast to show up while you are winning!!!

Hear about RedBull?? some say it works..you may give it a try if it shows up..

Have a nice trip and I hope you enjoy every day PF!!

Yeah, I try to avoid people smoking even when I'm not in a CH cycle (growing up with a mother who smoked gave me a healthy resentment of it).

Thanks for reminding me about the Red Bull - I think this could be a good oportunity to give it a try if the oportunity presents itself.

Definatly talk to your supplier...
I recently spent 3 weeks in Boston.  I contacted my O2 provider here in CO, Apria, who arranged to have tanks waiting for me at the hotel when I arrived.  They even made a second emergency delivery on the weekend when a clueless night clerk made a driver from another supplier (there for a different guest) take away the tanks they had in storage for me  ::)
