Post by oakie on Mar 6th, 2007, 3:20pm
Do any of you have pain that shoots from the side of your head and ends in your neck. when i'm having an attack the burning radiates down my neck and feels like a knot in my neck?

Yes.

If you have a lump that forms as well (could be just to the left or right of your cervical vertebrae or at the base of your skull) it's a pretty common thing--a swollen nerve ganglion, along with the surrounding tissue.  We call it a "cluster lump".

Applying ice wrapped in a sopping wet cloth to that area may reduce pain during an attack.

Best wishes,

George

Thats the parasympathetic nerve pathway, the one that gets firey during an attack.

Applying wet ice there helps a lot with the pain.

Painfree wishes to you.

Annette

OMG! I thought I was the only one that had that.  I swear I could reach in and rip out that ball.  It's right under the oxput bone where the base of the scull mets the neck.  Only on my left side.  I'm think of asking them to do Botox there.  I've also had nerve blocks in that area also.
