Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by froggy on Feb 23rd, 2007, 9:28pm Oh my God, do you think anyone is really going to fess up? ;) The only thing that I would think would cause a problem in that department would be a side effect of any given medication. |

The libido was high and always has been. Certain meds F##ked up the fun for a while though. An interesting note: Verapamil is being studied as a male contraceptive because it severely effects the mobility of the swimmers. I wasn't supposed to be able to knock up my wife due to high doses.......guess what??? I got me some super sperm ;;D |

Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by ClusterChuck on Feb 23rd, 2007, 10:00pm That is a VERY hard question to answer, for me. Yes my libido IS lower. My drive is SO not what it used to be. But why ?? IS it ch ?? The meds I have taken ?? Is it my age ?? Was it due to my denial of my sexuality ?? I don't know the answers here, sorry Tony ... All I CAN say, is that I DEFINATELY don't have the drive or stamina that I used to have. Chuck |

Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by Gator on Feb 23rd, 2007, 10:36pm Well, I'll fess up. :o Getting hit several times a day, every friggin day, the last thing on my mind (most of the time) is sex. It was worse when I was on all the different meds, but I still haven't recovered to nearly where I was before developing this crap. I suppose it's a blessing in disguise since the better half is starting to go through the change. At least I'm not demanding more than she wants to give and making her feel guilty for something she can't control. :-/ |

Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by Skyhawk5 on Feb 23rd, 2007, 11:46pm I've had attacks begin during sex several times, which ended that fun. Me and the wife now shy away from sex during cycles. Meds have been a problem too, but we deal with it. Luckily after 20 years of marriage that's OK. I think?! |

Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by LeeS on Feb 24th, 2007, 6:13am A dodgy hypothalamus? The hypothalamus, amongst many other things, is known to secrete gonadotrophin releasing-hormone, which may be responsible for the absence of libido in some sufferers. Here's a good summary for the biologic basis of libido: http://tinyurl.com/2kkbmt If that doesn't float your boat you could always try this. Can't vouch for for it of course – just found it whilst surfing ;;D http://naturomeds.com/herbs.php?id=&product=29 -Lee |

Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by HeadhurtinMama on Mar 2nd, 2007, 9:10pm JeffB [smiley=girlflash.gif] Honestly, my libido has been decreasing since I was 21. How sad is that. Dr tried switching my BC pills around thinking it was related to that. And every year the undiagnosed CH got worse, and so did I. It is a miracle we have two kids! And now with two little boys in the house, even now that I am doing great CH wise, the fibro knocks me on my butt. Now my poor hubby is so used to not getting it, even when I am in the mood, we don't tend to sync? I keep trying to tell myself that the more you use it, the better it works! PFDAN! Bridget |

Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by TonyYZF on Mar 4th, 2007, 11:01am Hi all, I am 37, male. I have always had a very strong labido. Never did peak out. When I have bad hits I am in too much pain during and too tired after to be interested in sex then. The rest of the time I am interested almost daily, and sometimes twice a day even though I have eternal shadows. When I am taking the meds though I have found erections difficult though the drive is still there. I have even wondered if screwed up chemistry is why my drive is so high...who knows. Good luck. Tony |

Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by Redd on Mar 4th, 2007, 12:28pm I think there is a huge difference between sex drive (libito) and the actual ability to perform (playing pool with a rope comment). Simply because one can't perform.. due to erectile issues from medications or fatigue from the CH for both male and female sufferers, doesn't always mean the "drive/desire" isn't there. |

Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by clusterwife on Mar 8th, 2007, 3:04pm Oh, it gets worse. My hubby gets hit right after lovemaking. So in our home it's like: No honey, I don't want "get" a headache. Something about relaxing triggers it for him. Go figure! Leah. |

Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by TonyYZF on Mar 11th, 2007, 11:57am Interesting that you mentioned the relaxing part. I think I read something about relaxing being a trigger and I believe I have made a correlation with increased shadows for myself with relaxation, like the weekends. Tony |

Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by Rosybabe on Mar 11th, 2007, 3:49pm yeap, you are right! relaxation sometimes brings the beast out.. If I'm in cycle, I will get CH if I get "lucky" (that is how my DH calls it) and I'm sure I get CH's on weekends too. no much fun on those 3 months.. |

Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by carolynp on Mar 27th, 2007, 1:32am I can honestly say that since DH;s turned into chronic clusters he has zero libido. :( Wonder if I can get the doc to buy into the testosterone study. |

Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by pieface_49 on Mar 27th, 2007, 8:02pm I think for some of us testosterone may play a factor. I am a very unfortunate individual who matured early, probably because of testosterone levels being extremely high. I highly question if this is playing a factor in my facial pain. I am not bragging, this is my reality. I wish it could have been different, but it is not. My younger years were consumed with sex and I mean totally consumed. At 49, while not in cycle, orgasm at least once a day is norm. Two to three, possibly four is possible. During cycle my hormones (perhaps this is the wrong word?) are all messed. I brought up in another post I am very straightforward during cycle. In fact, detrimental to myself. I know what is going on. My system is releasing unusual amounts of something. What? I do not know. I do know my histamine levels are extremely high. About six hours after a hit I am extremely alert and intelligent. Today at work was an example. I think people are surprised to see how quickly I can analyze and solve their issues. I saw it first hand today. Analyzing and solving issues is normal for me, but to do it bang, bang, bang is not. I honestly think blood tests and urine analysis might show why. The friggin stupid Doctors have in 4 years have ordered neither. Why is beyond me? I never associated libido with sex drive, but Wikepdia says it is so. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libido Pie |

Title: Re: CH and Libido Post by ndshrubs on Apr 2nd, 2007, 8:06pm Like several others... CH doesn't seem to effect my libido; however, I'll have an attack immediately after sex about 50% of the time while in cycle. Usually, those are particularly severe headaches. -S |
