Title: Memory Problems?!?!? Post by eyepopper on Feb 22nd, 2007, 4:48pm Hi . . . I've suffered with CH's for about 12 years now, and am currently on verapamil to prevent, imitrex to abort and O2 also as an abortive. For a six month stint, I was on Topamax, but I stopped that about a year ago (due to memory issues and "doped up" feeling). Anyway, I feel like my memory has just gone down the toilet over the past year. Do any of these drugs cause permanent memory loss/attention deficeit type problems? I started a part time job (which is hard enough when you end up dancing with the beast), but sometimes I just can't remember what someone told me. Maybe it's just old age (48), but do the drugs or clusters themselves affect memory? I feel like an idiot and want to cry. Deb |

Title: Re: Memory Problems?!?!? Post by Barry_T_Coles on Feb 22nd, 2007, 5:20pm Hi Deb I think you’ll find that just about all of us suffer some form of short term memory loss during the cycle period; Id be working on something & go to the shed to get a tool & by the time I got there id forgotten what it was I wanted & even wonder why I was there, I had more unfinished projects laying around than I could point a stick at. I didn’t get my full memory back until I went onto the Magnesium & Taurine regime. Sticky notes are good & can be a real help. Your no idiot just a little head weary right now. Cheers Barry I should have mentioned that I dont take drugs to controll my CH. Cheers |

Title: Re: Memory Problems?!?!? Post by barry_sword on Feb 22nd, 2007, 5:47pm Hi Deb. My memory is very good and is a big part of my job but when in cycle as I am now I am more forgetful than usual. I find the Verapamil is to blame partly plus the lack of sleep because of my midnight attacks. :P After cycle is over my memory seems normal. ::) Barry |

Title: Re: Memory Problems?!?!? Post by Linda_Howell on Feb 22nd, 2007, 6:19pm Topomax is notorious for this but I have never heard of memory loss from Imitrex. Sometimes when one is getting hit hard, the lack of sleep that ensues could do cause this also. |

Title: Re: Memory Problems?!?!? Post by Chillrmn1 on Feb 22nd, 2007, 6:26pm Like Linda said it probably wasn't due to Imitrex but more likely a result of the CH attacks themselves. Plus I haven't used Imitrex for 2 years and still can't remember sh_t. |

Title: Re: Memory Problems?!?!? Post by Spoticus on Feb 22nd, 2007, 6:52pm I had a fantastic memory before CH, since CH though, not so good. Particularly short term memory when in cycle as Barry mentioned. I honestly find it the scariest part of it :( I personally put it down to being unable to focus due to the pain rather than the drugs though (as I haven't really taken much myself). |
