Title: IT WORKS FOR ME! Post by SportsFan1 on Feb 5th, 2007, 1:11am Hey Everybody, Im a 6 year chronic cluster headache sufferer. Yep, I was getting a cluster headache or two almost everyday for quite some time and it really sucked. I tried everything the doctors recommended and it never worked. I had always been into working out, but my headaches began to really be fierce about 2 hours after a workout and it was disheartening. About 5 years ago I gave up drinking caffeine of any kind, I stopped eating chocolate and I gave up all nuts. You want to hear about how great that worked??? NOT A BIT. Oddly enough, I still gave them up and never returned to them (for the most part). I decided to work out whenever I felt a headache coming on instead of when I felt good. Ironically, the exercise would usually wisk away the headache within 15 minutes and I could go ahead and finish my workout and be done for that day with my workout. Of course I would still usually face a headache later in the day of some type, but it was nice to abort the ones I could. Like I said earlier, I gave up caffeine altogether...That was until a year ago. I had heard about "The Great" red bull conspiracy and finally I said what the hell. I decided I would still drink absolutely no caffeine at all other than the red bull and I would only drink Red Bull to abort headaches. I can honestly say it has been a miracle for me. At the most sometimes I have to drink 3 a day, but generally it's right around 2 a day. Red Bull maybe an expensive little drink, but far cheaper than these crazy drugs. I want to stress that I don't have any caffeine intake of any kind outside of the red bull and I only drink them at the onset of headaches. I truly believe that the vascular constriction of the caffeine hitting my system is benefited by this practice. Well anyway, just wanted to share my story and I certainly hope we all get some peace from these horrors.. |

Title: Re: IT WORKS FOR ME! Post by BarbaraD on Feb 5th, 2007, 7:49am Red Bull has been a good abortative for a lot of us. I keep it cold and down a can at the onset of a HA. Works most of the time. Have you tried O2. That with the Red Bull does wonders. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: IT WORKS FOR ME! Post by Phil L on Feb 6th, 2007, 5:31pm I've a similar experience with Red Bull or Monster Chaos and exercise. Generally the workout will help to abort or at least decrease the kip. Could be nothing more than my mind playing tricks, but whatever, I'm not about to stop. |

If there is one thing I can definitely tell you, I do not have migraines. I many times wished they were migraines because people had told me how you could lay down and it would at least be tolerable. One thing every cluster sufferer knows is that you aren't about to be able to lay down and solve any problems, if anything it will get worse. Basically my headaches begin quickly around the temple on the right side and then become the typical unbearable pain behind the right eye. The swollen, watery eye follows and within 10 minutes I am screwed completely. Pacing, rubbing, rocking, pushing my eye, banging my head on the wall and cursing god (unfortunately I have done this many times, Sorry GOD!)...I don't have the tunnel vision or nausea, mine are all simply excruciating pain. Im not trying to get on you or anything, but it took me 3 years and 6 different doctors telling me I had migraines before finally I went to a neurologist and he said I was a classic chronic cluster case. At this point I had already been advised on all the things I should do by other doctors such as no cheese, nuts, chocolate or caffeine and had been on these for a few years. The neurologist said those are basically Migraine preventatives, which made sense because none had done a damn thing for me. Anyhow, I guess what im saying is I may come across as a little touchy when someone says "oh, that sounds like a migraine", but it's only because so many of those jackass doctors misdiagnosed it for 3 years. |
