Title: Hot peppers help
Post by olepi on Jan 29th, 2007, 3:21pm
I haven't seen much about this here, but I found out that a huge dose of hot peppers applied to my face helps quite a bit. Anyone else do this? I rub in the hottest peppers I can find on my temple, above the eye, and on my upper jawline. The burning is a distraction, and it seems to help with the pain. I know that capcisin is a good pain medication.

I've even taken the hottest pepper powder I could find (Bird peppers) and rubbed it into my upper gums. During a headache, I don't feel the hot. In a normal setting, this would be unthinkable.

I've snorted habanero sauce up my nose a time or two, didn't help as much as I'd have liked it to.  But things work differently for different people.

SinusBuster, got the patch and the bump on my head from hitting the roof with it. [smiley=laugh.gif]
Nope nothing for me but dam where my sinuses open!

Hot pepper sauce under the tongue helped a couple of sufferers  a while back, but the aftershock was something else again.

and if you use capsasian cream BE SURE to wear undies -- there was the incident with Mr. Winkie....

Yep, this has been brought up before a few times... :D

I did snort cayenne powder once (anything to get rid of the pain). I won't do that again :)

The husband went through 3 cans of Capcaisin.  He said it actually worked by either slowing the headache down or knocking it out, but only for around 15 minutes.  Hey, anything is better than nothing, I said to him.

Then he had me try a snort.  So I did just to see what he went through and yeeeiiiiiks!  It started to give his peptic ulcer a bad time, so he stopped.

I've heard that the same pepper can be taken as a preventative for stomach canceras well.  Kind of strange since you would think it would burn a hole through your
lining.

Haven't ever tried it as an abortive.  Why add to the misery?   ;)

I CAN tell you that it's probably a failure as a preventive--I took a full facial hit of 10 percent OC spray once when I was in cycle.  My partner in the training exercise made sure to hose me until I dripped.  I remember that it stung a bit but it wasn't all that bad.  I didn't find it particularly disabling, except that it caused my eyes to close involuntarily.

Got hit with a CH that night as usual, and the cycle just went on.

Now a taser might be a whole different deal......  [smiley=laugh.gif]

Best,

George

yea, the claim is, the longer you stay on it, the more likely it will prevent the headaches.  Sounded good in theory.

We had high hopes, but again ......nothing.

I obtain more consistent relief from drinking very hot tea and moving an ice pack (applied directly/no towel)  between my eye/forehead/temple.

In my experinece, Capcaisin - provided a distraction but not consistent relief.
