My cluster cycle has been so strange this time; however, I think there are some mitigating factors that are coming into play here:

1. Before the cycle kicked off I was on 11 days of prednisone for another issue -- cycle fired up about a week after I taped off the prednisone.

2. Also had to use a steroid nasal spray (Rhinocort)

Cycle has been fairly mild ( which I'm thankful for) thus far; however, have had a couple of 8 bordering 9 hits. Went to my GP as my Neuro decided to close shop without referring his patients (%#$^@^@%! ba$^@$d). Anyway, I'm a night hit person (very rare for a full blown day hits (shadows). When the cycle fired up I got hit terribly; however, they were sporadic (i.e. a hit every other day or a hit two days in a row and then a PF day) and generally much milder than normal - I think it has to do with the Pred I was taking ?

Anyhow, the prednisone benefits have finally worn off and things have become more normal (if anything can be called normal about this curse) -- started on verap with a Maxalt QM backup. The verap seems to be working ok as I've had very few hits since it got into the system. BUT, I think the beast is adapting as the past two mornings I've woken with maybe a kip 4 (tolerable) and have been able to abort with a mountain dew or two :) and excedrin migrane --

Since I haven't tried the Maxalt before any words of wisdom?

Maxalt-MLT is what I usually abort with. It is slower than the imitrex nasal spray but does abort pretty quickly once it starts working. Usually about 20 mins. It also will get rid a ch after ive had it for awhile and didnt catch it soon enough to immediatly abort. This is how it works for me. It may be different for you.

Maxalt works for me most of the time if I take it as soon as I feel a twinge. Tastes like shit tho.
