Title: confused Post by maureenv on Dec 20th, 2006, 1:35pm Hi All I haven't posted in quite sometime, but I do try to keep a eye on things around here. I have had ch for 21 yrs now and I thought I at least had my cycles figured out, I should know better. This cycle started in Aug, 1 month after I moved and 6 months early, so I assumed I was ajusting to the different climate. In the past I have never had a cycle last longer than 6 to 12 weeks, I am now into 5 months, I always said that I was a lucky person cause I wasn't cronic and the real warriors were the cronic ch'ers now I am terrified I may be coming cronic. I talked to my dr about it, she is wonderful and has done as much research on ch as I have. She figures it could be because of changing hormones and after about 5 yrs most women see a great improvment. But until then who knows :-/ WT? Well I have loaded up on my arsinal bag, verap,o2, imitrex and melatonin. My question is has anyone else had this kind of change in there cycles I am hoping that this is just a long one and will soon pass. Wishing and hoping I could consider this normal in a not so normal cycle? Thanks for all the help Maureen |

Title: Re: confused Post by rbmb on Dec 20th, 2006, 3:05pm My cycles used to last 6 weeks to 3 months but the last one went almost 6 months followed by an 8 month HA free period. I'm also now in a cycle that started in August and it is now late December and they are showing no signs of letting up......4 and 5 HAs a night, one really intense one preceded and followed by lesser ones about an hour and a half apart. I'm a guy, so female hormones are not an issue in my case. You are not alone. As far as I can see, there is no understanding these cycles, what makes them start and stop or what you can do to control them. Rich |

Title: Re: confused Post by marlinsfan on Dec 20th, 2006, 3:05pm My cycles always started in december for many many years. But the last two started in april 2005 and July 2006. The april one was 3 months, the july less than 2 months. I normally lasted 1-2 months. I don't know what to expect anymore, I only know they're coming again, so I'm always ready. I've been in the same area for 9 years. |

Title: Re: confused Post by Guiseppi on Dec 20th, 2006, 4:56pm It's been a weird year for a lot of us. I finished my longest remission ever....2 years, in October of 2005, then had my longest ever cycle, 8 months. Like you I was getting pissed thinking I'd gone chronic, but obviously I dodged the bullet this time! Here's hoping you do the same. Guiseppi |

Title: Re: confused Post by MorDog on Dec 20th, 2006, 5:51pm A weird cycle for me too. Just had my longest remission ever, just shy of 2 years. I have been lucky with my cycles never lasting longer than 3 weeks. This cycle is about to start its 4th week. I thought is was over a few days ago when I went 2 days/nights without any hits only to be brought down with my 2nd worst hit ever. I was still feeling the effects of it this morning. But back to the weird part... 90% of my hits in the past (on days when I only had one hit) were always during sleep. This latest batch have been about half of them coming during sleep and the other half hitting me between the 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. just before I go to bed. My hits also have been going on a bit longer too. Used to always be about 45 mins long if untreated and now they have lasted 1 1/2 hr. to 2 hrs. if I dont abort them. Wife also tells me I have been doing quite a bit of talking in my sleep (after I have had my hit and gone back to sleep) and it hasnt been nice talking either. I dont know if lack of real sleep is getting to me or maybe it is the imitrex talking. I guess it just shows you can never really figure CH 's out. They like to be in control. |

Title: Re: confused Post by BarbaraD on Dec 20th, 2006, 6:18pm In 1997 I was on a "Love Boat" cruise (with my daughter-in-law on her FIRST anniversary - I'm more fun than my son!) and there was nothing to bother me and I was enjoying myself totally, when the demon came to visit. And he never left..... Before that it had been twice a year -- spring and fall for 2 months. Guess ya never can tell what Mr. D is going to do... I'm moving this week into a new house -- hope he stays in this one. Hugs BD |
