Title: Eyes Post by Chrisjg23 on Dec 17th, 2006, 8:17pm CH's, As I head into my 4th week of my first CH experience, I began to wonder about how you guys handle the eye issues associated with CHs. During my worst headaches, my left eye will water, turn bloodshot, and the lower lid is irritated and reddish... Do you guys do anything special to alleviate the swelling and redness? |

Title: Re: Eyes Post by Redd715 on Dec 17th, 2006, 9:31pm Honestly there really is nothing that can be done for this. It's an autonomic symptom, and once the cycle is over, it will go away on it's own. Cold compresses help the pain during the attack itself, and can help a bit to relieve some of the swelling. |

Yep. It goes away when the headache is finished. I know it's happening, but I don't pay too much attention to the drip, drip, drip from the bloodshot eye--I'm just trying to get through the hit. It's just part of the whole nasty deal--along with the sweating and the runny nose. Of the secondary symptoms, I hate the sweating the worst. But all of that is sweetness and light juxtaposed against the &*^% knife in my eye. Best wishes, George |

Smart, smart doc you've got there. I was diagnosed about three years after onset, and I'm one of the lucky ones. Some here went undiagnosed for many years. Seriously--kudos to your doctor. Best wishes, George |

Title: Re: Eyes Post by Chrisjg23 on Dec 21st, 2006, 7:29am Yes, I am quite grateful for his diagnosis (well, it still sucks) I can't imagine not knowing what this ridiculous pain was ... He just started me on Verapamil...I've read some good things about it on the board and I hope it works. Oh, and I'm now over one month with this cycle! Sadly, it feels like an accomplishment :'( |

Then you are going into this with a good additude, and that there is half the battle. Keeping a positive frame of mind between the hits is essential to getting through this and moving on with life once the cycle ends. |

Title: Re: Eyes Post by pha516 on Dec 24th, 2006, 1:29pm My husband also gets the redness, swelling, teariness but lately he has been getting blurred vision. Do other people get blurred vision with the cluster? Thanks. Debbie |

Title: Re: Eyes Post by ax on Dec 26th, 2006, 3:22am No blurred vision, but in the past 2 cycles, each have added a spot on my eye that I can see when looking at anything bright, like a white wall. |

Title: Re: Eyes Post by redhead on Dec 27th, 2006, 10:01pm My eye doctor, who ALSO has cluster headaches, says that a cool compress for about 10 minutes after an attack is the best option to get the redness and puffiness to go away. |
