Title: Hallucinations Post by jcline871 on Dec 5th, 2006, 2:49am I don't see too many references on the board to hallucinations. I don't experience this all the time, but when the intensity hits 9 or 10, I have experienced what I can only call hallucinations. The last one was a couple nights ago. I woke up as usual, but this one was already too far gone to slow it down. I was heading for maximum pain. Somewhere along the way I entered this hallucinatory dream state where I started to feel like the world was fake (like some big Matrix) and the pain in my head was due to some programming error... I was visualizing people who were in charge of this crazy world and all kinds of freaky details like that. This sounds so freaky and it was. I've experienced similar before. It always seems to be some kind of 'hell' where I am going crazy and totally stressed and scared. It's rather intense. The other thing that goes along with this is loss of control of bodily functions. In the past I have been made to puke without warning and this time I had to move very quickly to the toilet. This only happens when it's at 9/10 level and my entire body is writhing in pain, sweating and overheating. Just curious if anybody else has experienced similar. -John |

Title: Re: Hallucinations Post by Charlotte on Dec 5th, 2006, 8:32am Is it a visual hallunication or a sensory distortion? Many of us get amplified senses at times - sight, smell, touch, and hearing - and i sometimes get sensory overload. Some meds do cause visual hallucinations. Everyone is different and the same person can react differently to the same med at different times. Inderal caused me to hallucinate in 2002, but not spring 2006. Good luck. Charlotte |

Title: Re: Hallucinations Post by jcline871 on Dec 5th, 2006, 4:14pm No meds in both cases that it happened because the first time I didn't know it was cluster headaches and the second, I thought I was out of the woods. Only Motrin and/or Asprin. I think maybe Hallucinations is too strong a word. It is more like I am in an extended dream state even though I have got up from bed and walked over to the sink to pour cold water on my head. Perhaps whatever I was dreaming about at the time the attack started gets amplified and my mind focuses on it during the pain... Scary feeling when it's all over with. I have to actually focus on thinking about something else to get out of it. -John |
