Title: 1 attack ... 2 jabs Post by UN-solved on Nov 17th, 2006, 1:14pm For the first time ever, I had to use 2 Imitrex jabs to stop an attack. I took the first jab and suffered for about 40 minutes, then took the second jab which worked within 5 minutes. Wondering WTH happened there. I sure hope this isn't a sign that the Trex is giving out on me. I've been using it with success every since it first came out. Any thoughts ? UNsolved |

Title: Re: 1 attack ... 2 jabs Post by davyp on Nov 17th, 2006, 1:44pm Have had it happen to me too. My Doc told me it was probably the last 1 of a batch and didnt contain enough Imi to deal with the attack, must say that he wasnt impressed when i told him that i had used a second jab. Dape |

Title: Re: 1 attack ... 2 jabs Post by Kevin_M on Nov 17th, 2006, 1:49pm When I only had n/s trex and no preventive or oxygen, waking in the night with the train on the tracks rolling with momentum, grabbing a trex, I could time a clock to the 40 minute mark before it started letting up. The n/s trex couldn't catch it and overtake it easily, ice was important. Many times during the day, 15 minutes was par. Of course that shouldn't be the case with injects but I've wondered sometimes if the trex had worked or it let up on its own but never had to use a second one past the 40 minute mark. However once, it did not work for me at all, going well beyond that time, so it must have been working all the other times. |

Title: Re: 1 attack ... 2 jabs Post by BB on Nov 17th, 2006, 4:53pm Did the first injection worked a little bit then the pain rammed up again? Was it a full dose or half dose? Daniel has had to use an injection on top of a nasal spray a couple of times, but not 2 injections. He told me that the nasal spray would start to work as he could feel the pain easing off and the drilling lessening but it didnt go away completely, several minutes later it started to ram back up again and he had to use more imigran to really kill it. Dont think its a sign that the trex stops working, I think its just for that particular attack the dose in one wasnt quite enough. Painfree wishes to you. Annette |

Title: Re: 1 attack ... 2 jabs Post by UN-solved on Nov 17th, 2006, 9:41pm They were both 4mg injections. Now I've had to do it again after another 'bell ringer' !! :-/ UNsolved |

Title: Re: 1 attack ... 2 jabs Post by BB on Nov 18th, 2006, 4:14am Hi Unsolved, The standard Imigran ( trex ) injections here are 6 mg, the 4 mg is not available. Daniel usually splits the 6mgs into 2 and most of the time thats all he needs, but occasionally he needs the whole 6 mg to abort properly. It sounds like the 4 mg injections are not enough for some of your hits, maybe getting some 6 mg injections and use them for the bad attacks? Take care and best wishes. Annette |

Title: Re: 1 attack ... 2 jabs Post by UN-solved on Nov 18th, 2006, 3:11pm Thanks for your suggestion Annette. :) I've used the 6mg injections for years (every since they came out). After awhile, I couldn't tolerate the full injection. The docs said that it was 'squeezing' my heart and the dose was too high, so I backed off to 3 - 4 mg and it's been working for a long time. I recently got ahold of the 4mg injections and they have been working out fine ... until now. I'll have to go back to the full 6mg injections for awhile. I still have a few. I sometimes use the vials too. PF Wishes UNsolved |
