Title: Flying and imitrex in hand luggage?
Post by Marijke on Oct 26th, 2006, 2:47pm
I am flying to the USA somewhere in the coming weeks. I was wondering if there are problems taking my imitrex-injections on board? I have a written statement of my doctor, but I don't know if this will do.

It' only appears to be a problem if it is hidden in a grenade

Dont stick the pilot in the eye and you should be fine.

Make sure the RX label is on the box.

As mentioned above, this is all the Transportation Security Administration has to say about medications:

Quote:
Please make sure your medications are properly labeled with a professionally printed label identifying the medication and manufacturer's name or pharmaceutical label. The prescription medicine must match the name on the passenger's ticket.

In case any questions about anything else in carry-on or checked baggage, this is the entire listing of permitted/prohibited items:

I also have sleep apnea (in addition to CH), and must travel with my CPAP machine. Since it's an expensive piece of equipment, I always carry it onboard with me. I carry a prescription, written out on the doc's script pad and laminated, right in the carrying case.

When I flew to Dallas for the convention I got 'picked' and I had everything gone through. The one place (the spot in my purse where you hide things) they didnt check, and guess what was in there? LOL...

I just completed a roundtrip flight in the US and the TSA told me that prescription meds are perfectly fine as long as the label is in tact and clearly legible.  They didn't even need to examine them.

I've flown several times and never had a problem. This last time I had a clear plastic bag with an Imitrex injector and some refills and the doctors written prescription along with it ... no problems at all  ;)
