Title: Odd Observation... Thoughts Welcome! Post by lgodm on Oct 23rd, 2006, 11:46pm This comes from a totally odd premise, but bare with me. I am one of those crazies that believe in the total mind-body approach to health, i.e. more stressed a person is, more likely to get sick, that many of our disease may be related to a mental state... Now that many of you may be laughing at me, I noticed something when looking at those with myspace pages, certain topics, etc. It seems that many that get cluster headaches are the type of people who like taking care of others, love to go out of their way to help those in need and end up the "Caretaker" in their circle of family and friends. I was curious how many of you would describe yourself as having the "knight in shining armor" complex. I know I do! My entire life I've always been in the role of helping any one around, whether as therapist, parental figure, so on and so forth. Whether you match this or this completely does not describe you, I'd like to know. |

Title: Re: Odd Observation... Thoughts Welcome! Post by Charlotte on Oct 23rd, 2006, 11:54pm I'm more of the big sister, oldest cousin type. I'm very impulsive and wear my heart on my sleeve. However, I don't think this made my hypothalamous go out of wack. My husband now keeps his ear open for anything on tv or radio about hypothalamous and what it affects, and he always thinks it applies to me. Charlotte |

Title: Re: Odd Observation... Thoughts Welcome! Post by BarbaraD on Oct 24th, 2006, 5:50am Most (not all) of us do not have CH when we're really stressed. It's when we relax that we get hit. It's just all in our heads... :) Hugs BD |

I couldn't agree more. I also think that experienceing CH, either directly or as a supporter may very well cause people to be more empathetic in general, not the other way around. |

Title: Re: Odd Observation... Thoughts Welcome! Post by TxBasslady on Oct 24th, 2006, 2:51pm Well, I don't have anything on "my space", but I do have CH. I do support...but it's because I know how bad this pain is, and how bad it can get for others. To say any of us are "knights in shining armors" doesn't seem to apply, just MHO. Those who are here have become family to me. As a family, we share in supporting each other. This is done out of love, and not for a "role". We share in each others pain, and sometimes we help some on a more personal level, whenever we feel it's needed, and can really make a difference to that person. Many here support, and they've never had CH. They support and they don't even have a spouse or regular family member with CH. Somehow, someway...they came here...and they've stayed. Then we have those who support because they do have a spouse or regular family member with CH. These supporter's are as much a part of this family as those of us who suffer. "Angels".....is a much better description. Jean |

Title: Re: Odd Observation... Thoughts Welcome! Post by Sandy_C on Oct 24th, 2006, 4:49pm Jean, that was an awesome response. It describes this website and the people who stick around here, whether a clusterhead in cycle, or out of cycle, or a supporter of a clusterhead, or, as you mentioned, someone who has no connection whatsoever with CH, but supports anyway. I don't think anyone here, who either suffers from CH, supports someone with CH, or who just supports ,is here to gain a title like Knight in Shining Armor! I like your "angels" much better. None of us are looking for a pat on the back or an "atta boy". We are all here simply because we care. Sandy |

Title: Re: Odd Observation... Thoughts Welcome! Post by HEY BAILEY on Oct 26th, 2006, 11:09pm Goodness, sometimes I think CareTaker is my middle name!! [smiley=laugh.gif] But I have to disagree with whomever said that we don't get CH when we're stressed but it's after we relax that they come....At least for me the opposite has been true..... Time to move to a deserted island and f@&k the time clock! Bailey |
