Title: How to deal? Post by drkern on Oct 20th, 2006, 6:13am The pain has been coming all night. after one is done and fades, i feel the tingling of another come on and then-bam-it's there! They hurt so bad. What do I do? I am on by the doctor dpakote and neurontin. i have extra topamax left over. i have percocet (only to make me sleep) and lorazepam (for anxiety). It hurts enough to meake me cry bad, and it makes my wife angry that there is nothing the doctors can do or she can do. I am allergic to bananas. Last time I ate one, the doc said the next would probably be fatal. I made a joke about eating a banana the other day, and now they are all gone from the fruit bowl. That is how serius i think my wife thinks i am now about that. (i don't think i ever would.) I AM ALLERGIC TO IMITREX. Is there anything? Oxygen did not work! nor did some other inhalant, migranal, i think. please help. |

Post by chopmyheadoff on Oct 20th, 2006, 6:33am hiya mate - sorry your having it rough at the moment . . mate are you allergic to all triptans or just imitrex ?? also, what about ergotamine. . etc etc etc do you see a neurologist because these are options that they should be presenting you with ?? if you let us know what youve tried then maybe you will get more suggestions as to what to try next. btw - we are not doctors , just sufferers like yourself so make sure you clear anything with your doc before diving in... oh, and stay off the bananas !! welcome chop |

Title: Re: How to deal? Post by BarbaraD on Oct 20th, 2006, 7:24am I guess wearing banana peels on your head is out of the question (just kidding - it didn't work anyhow :-/). Cafergot (ergotomine) is my drug of choice. I take the pills and it usually holds another headache off for about 8 hours. Red Bull and/or strong coffee work at the onset (usually) along with O2 (non-rebreathable mask). Verapamil has worked for a lot of people here as a preventative (not an abortative) in high doses. Read the prevents and the abortatives in the meds page and take info to your doc. But KNOW what you're talking about - then he/she will listen to you. If not - find another doc. Hugs BD |
