Title: acute hearing during part of a hit Post by Charlotte on Oct 9th, 2006, 11:36pm Today, in appreciation the boss & spervisor took all of us legal clerks to lunch. We were at a long narrow table and I was in the middle. As I was getting hit, I could loudly hear every person speaking at the table, every person's voice was amplified, individually, until I thought my skull would burst. I shut my eyes and rested my chin on my hands and "zoned out" (as my teenager would say) and made it through it. I know it was a short period of time but it seemed to go on forever. Only one of my coworkers noticed - I have noticed in the past that most people are self-absorbed and I do not need to be embarrassed about getting hit in public, at least in a restaurant, because noone is actually looking at me, personally. The coworker who did notice said, "I thought you were asleep at the table," while in truth, in my head, I was talking myself through it. Charlotte |

Title: Re: acute hearing during part of a hit Post by jon019 on Oct 9th, 2006, 11:41pm Hi Charlotte, Yes, I have noticed the sound sensitivity during some hits (the bad ones). Usually try to leave the TV on to distract. Sometimes it is just not possible. EVERYTHING is amplified. Regards Jon |

Title: Re: acute hearing during part of a hit Post by Sean_C on Oct 9th, 2006, 11:44pm My hearing can be effected too, as with my sensitivity to light. Others have posted similar threads, I don't think its uncommon. Sean........................................ |

Title: Re: acute hearing during part of a hit Post by starlight on Oct 10th, 2006, 11:10am Charlotte, That happened to me the last hit of this cycle--8 AM I was in my car with a friend--got hit--friend opened a velcro CD holder and the sound of the velcro was like someone drilling the street. It was if sounds became HUGE. Really weird--but then my last hit itself was weird--different than others. Usually I am only bothered by light. |

Charlotte. This is usually the first sighn of your superpowers beginning to emerge. Soon you will be able to see through the wall to the next room. It is best to try to improve on the hearing issue and soon it can be controlled. Next you may find yourself levitating across a room and then it all begins to come together. Superwoman was like that in her evolution from normality. I think the issue of avoiding the light is a natural defense mechanism so that we are ready when the kryptonite is brought out. Cluster headaches are just how superpowers are hidden away by those of us in denial of our super assets. Clark Kent. ;) |

I friggin knew it, man! So, in order to cure cluster, all you folks have to do is admit it, once and for all, that each of you has super powers and just let them naturally surface. Boy, I hope Mike's super power includes the ability to do the Star Trek transporter thingy and take me out to dinner tonight. In Maui! [smiley=laugh.gif] |

Title: Re: acute hearing during part of a hit Post by Tata on Oct 10th, 2006, 3:34pm I've had that too and sometimes I'll have to go to my room and turn a fan on to block out the noise. My husband calls it "the prop" because it's only slightly less noisy that the prop on our boat. But whatever works, right? One thing I haven't heard anyone else talk about that I have a problem with and that is sensitivity to smells. My nose is like a blood-hounds nose and strong smells drive me insane, even during pain-free times. Do you or anyone else experience this too? |

Title: Re: acute hearing during part of a hit Post by seasonalboomer on Oct 10th, 2006, 4:02pm yes, i also seem to have "attenuated senses syndrome" (ASS) when getting hit. if i get too sensitive to it and bitch at my supporter about the sound of the TV, or the light in the other room, or just generally snap at her over syndrome symptoms i can count on not getting ASS for a long time though. ;;D Scott |

Title: Re: acute hearing during part of a hit Post by Turts on Oct 18th, 2006, 6:07pm yeah i get hypersensitivity during a hit as well. the amplied noises, especially a certain pitched voice drives me insane. as for photo-sensitivity i have had that permanently since my first cycle. cant bare to go outdoors without sunglasses. i think Bono has been copying my style for the last few years. smells- havent noticed anything. touch- wouldnt know as I shun any physical contact during a hit.
