Title: Verapamil Tolerance? Post by apace41 on Oct 5th, 2006, 10:31am Hi, to all. Returning, unfortunately, to the board after 2+ PF years. Been a CH sufferer for as long as I can remember (I'm 44 now). Went on 480mg of Verapamil and it was like magic... for the past two years. Demon is back with a vengeance. Different this time. Used to be like clockwork at 2 in the morning, suffer through between 1/2 hour and 2 hours, follow a perfect parabolic curve, then be over with for two days and cycle would repeat. This time, much more random. Several in a single day ranging from 1/2 hour to 5 or 6 hours. After the first weekend it went away for the most part (that residual pain feeling hung around a bit). Then, after about 8 days, another fierce return. Longer bouts again (up last night from 2 and lasting until... well ... now). Specific question is whether people have experienced a tolerance to Verapamil. I figure one approach is to up the Verapamil, but wanted some feedback before calling the doc. Never had any side effects from it and have a family history of HBP (with one bad test of my own) which helped convince me it was a decent thing to try. Of course, with CH, you never know if the drug did the trick or if you happened to have a remission period just to tease you. Anyway, thoughts on this appreciated. Andy |

Title: Re: Verapamil Tolerance? Post by lskilly on Oct 5th, 2006, 5:27pm Caused me to have violent shaking of my hands similar to palsey. But then I seem to be very sensitive to any med. I was tying it for high blood pressure. Oddly enough it seem the CH came back about the time I stopped the verapamil. |

Title: Re: Verapamil Tolerance? Post by apace41 on Oct 5th, 2006, 5:39pm Thanks. What I was driving at was more the other way around. For people who have tolerated Verapamil and then had a recurrence, did upping the level of the meds have some success? Thanks, Andy |
