Title: I have aborted 15 Consecutive Clusters!
Post by JohnMcCloy on Sep 15th, 2006, 10:44am
I was gettin trounced by these headaches every night.Today marks my 4th week.Everytime I began getting a CH or was woken out of bed with one i simply began incredibly strenous Shadow boxing for about 5 minutes straight. With the first minute the pain becomes dull and as long as I continue to Shadow box with only a few second breaks they are gone.Once in awhile after 5 minutes you will feel some blood rush back to your head and get 2 tough minutes of CH pain but with 5 minutes it is gone

I have had beginning stage CH's 15 times in the last week and this aborted every single one.Even a full blow whammy in the middle of the night twice.Gone within minutes. The only one I could not was because i was in a public place with my girlfriend but I aborted that with Nasal Imitrex which a little bird gave me thank god.

I can finally spend the days and nights and not even be afraid.I even had myself a beer yesterday for the first time in a month...And today I may or may not have another ;)..lol

Anyway i hope some other ppl give it a shot and let me know how it works.Just a little advice you need to really get into it.You need to get angry and you need to be relentless.Sometimes i stand with my feet planted and sometimes I throw some leg kicks in there. You must work yourself into a frenzy to where you are so tired you wanna stop but you know its only for a little while longer.

I'm glad you are having such good results.  I'm curious, how long does it take you to get back to sleep after vigorous exercise?  That would keep me up at least a couple of hours longer, so I'm not sure I would go that route at night.  I have enough problems with sleep deprivation during a cycle.

WARNING: Do not attempt this methodology on a bus, subway, train, or airplane. It may end your cluster cycle - and everything else you hold dear - for good. ;;D

Someone was in the bathroom so i had to go to the Stairwell.I did my thing for 5 minutes. Was dizzy for 5 min after with some moderate cluster pain.
Poof All Gone.
Im not sure why it works but i think it has something to do with my blood vessels narrowing again when im doing my thing & the blood going to other parts of my body and then when its returning to normal in my head i feel the pain briefly and then my body regulates itself and returns the dilated vessel causing the pain to normal.

Sometime but rarely one will start coming back in an hr or sooner but just rinse and repeat.

Could be blood flowing away from head to muscles.
could be sucking extra O2 by being winded,
could be release of endorphins,
could be lots of things I guess.

I do the same John Mcloy.

With me its pushups against the edge of the counter. Fast and steady untill it hurts so bad. Seldom totally breaks a hit but helps in many ways. Especially if like me you elect to go unmedicated.

Haven't tried that one yet , but my cycle is due to start soon.  I'll take a stab at it and report back.  May even get in shape.  Glad you found something that works.

I have tried jumping on my treadmill and cranking it up as fast as I can stay on it. It seems to abort the cluster after maybe 15 minutes. I do this if the Zomig doesnt work, or if its a 15

I've actually aborted clusters by going out in the cold and vigorously shovelling snow!  This, however, may not work well for people in Arizona, Texas, Florida, and a few other places!

I don't know how to shadow box.  Really.  Honestly, what do you do?  I walk and do Tai Chi for exercise but thats never aborted a hit.  So do you, like, pretend to hit someone?
