Title: Screwed At the E.R. I min Hell
Post by JohnMcCloy on Sep 3rd, 2006, 2:54pm
Well i took your guys advice and decided after 8 years of just dealing with the pain I could no longer take it and regardless of not having medical I decided to trek on down after being up since Friday night and having such terrible CH's i was crying.

Nothing has been working for me.
I decided to go down get treated and let them bill me later.Well I go down and I was having no symptoms at the time and i explained how i needed imitrex etc they finally ended up only giving me a scrip for 10 pills Max of 50 MG.I could not beleive it 350.00 to get a scrip i cannot use because when i went to find out the cost even on the generic they wanted 230.00 for 10 pills.
I nearly jumpe din front of a Cab.I feel bad my g/f has to see me like this.

I do not know what to do any longer.

One suggestion that might help things a bit is to carry a card with a list of medications. They might give you a sample or two and treat you better.

I use one of my business cards, date it, type up a list of medications and how I use them and paste the cutout over the card with clear strapping tape. It makes the card very tough too. I take enough un-pronoucable pills that it makes things so much easier. Make more than one copy for your wallet.

Damn drug companies.   >:(

I forgot to add that some drug companies will give you a break if you contact them. Others here have more data on that. I'm not up on that area but I understand that it has been done.

John,

I'm sorry you did not have more luck at the ER.  I think O2 is best option.  It would probably improve your quality of life a lot.  I get hit many times during the night and with O2 my quality of life is drastically improved--if I didn't have it I would be in hell.  I pay $150 a month for unlimited refills (my insurance doesn't cover O2)--so you might need to look at it from that standpoint that health insurance might not even cover the O2.  Please try to get the O2.  Some here have welder's O2--I don't know how to get that.  But maybe one of them can tell you.  Also in the meantime can you apply for free care--whatever your state has for free care?  I hope you get some relief.
P.S.  Have you tried melatonin?  It works for some.  It is worth a try while you are trying to  get ahold of these other things.
Good luck John, STar

Sorry about your situation. I call the shots at the ER or ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE. I know what I need and what works now. I demand no less. I don't usually have a problem at all. I did have a doc recently say ... "We don't do request. This aint no radio station".  But he ordered exactly what I said quickly.  ;;D

If you know what works ... Get it !!

Ya man, lots you can do. The next time in the ER give them the card Charlie suggested, kick some furniture around while moaning in tongues..then you may get the treatment quicker. They hate it when you drive off customers.  [smiley=hurl.gif]
I hate it for ya. Gotta get 02. Hang in there.
Your g/f should have the coffee on for you, standing by with a new cold rag. [smiley=twocents.gif]
all the best

Try red bull and even the cheap brands (taurine & caffine) and an ice pack. Try to get some O2. Just because you don't have insurance doesn't mean that they shouls treat you less than human, but don't feel rained on they treat us insured like that too. :'(
Bring your g/f along with you to this site. Help her to understand these bastards too. She is already going through with you. Ther is valuable information on this site. Good Luck

ER's SUCK!!!

Tell your doctor your situation, as he can probably give you some samples to help you get through, but definitely get some o2.

I know it's hard, but this is your worst enemy. Never let the enemy win.

Peace,
Carl
