Title: Salmon?
Post by starlight on Aug 31st, 2006, 10:16pm
Hey all!!!

I had a pain free night last night.  Totally pain free--alarm went off at 7 am and I had to rub my eyes in disbelief that the clock actually said 7:00 and that I had slept through the whole damn night.
OK...this is going to sound totally out there.  For one thing, my cycle may be ending and God I hope it is.  But, last night I had salmon for dinner.  AND...I also have had salmon for dinner about 4 other times during this cycle and noticed marked improvement every night that I would eat it--as in LESS headaches--like a LOT less pain during the night-- and last night I had NONE.  Anyhow, it's just a weird thing that I am throwing out there.  Cause, swear to God EVERY time I ate it I noticed big improvement.  Coincidence?
I honestly don't think so.  Anyway, I will post if tonight is PF also.  Cause if it's not I am going to get more salmon!!!  It sounds wacky but I am starting to think it helps these HAs.
PF days and nights folks, Star

BTW,

I know this post sounds kinda weird but I wouldn't have posted it if I swear to God I think that it puts a dent in the HAs to eat the salmon.  I'm not saying it's a cure by any means but perhaps very helpful.  Anyway, if anyone likes fish it's worth a try.  Star

Hmmmm.....

Salmon = very high in Omega 3 fatty acids.

Fish = always called "brain food" by my mom.

You might be onto something.

There are several books out on anti-inflammation diets, and salmon is a major part of all of them. It doesn't work for all of us, but I'm glad to hear it's helping you!

btw... you might want to look into Omega 3 fatty acid supplements... they'll supply the same nutrient in the salmon without the mercury and other contaminents. They don't taste great and may make you burp, especially if you get the pure fish oil kind. If that's bothersome you can either break them open and mix them in with food or spend a little more money and get a flavored variety. I've heard the orange flavored ones are the most popular.

Also, you might want to look into an anti-inflammation diet, since salmon seems to make such a big difference for you. Last I checked there were at least half a dozen books about that- I have no idea which is best.

How cruel!  It reminds me of "Bambi"!  Some baby salmon will be an orphan (only if you eat a female; the male salmons, just like all males, are only interested in making the baby, not taking care of them :P)!

What a coincidence!, I've been eating Salmon (grilled) too by the time CH cycle seemed to be ending.

Hey--interesting reading everyone's replies.  Katherine, thanks for that useful information.  Never even thought of anti-inflammation diets as one option to help fight these things.  And the supplements of that kind that you could take.  Next go round or if this one is not truly over I am going to look into that--especially the supplements.  Thanks for the info.  Chonas--glad to hear your cycle is ending.  Maybe the salmon helped you too?  It might sound weird but if something like this helps--I would eat it every night when I started a cycle.  Hope it helps someone else.  Weird cause i had thought of foods making these headaches worse (like I feel red meat does for me I hardly ever eat it but notice the few times I have it seems to make things much worse that night) but never thought maybe some foods could really help in a remarkable way.  Last night was PF too!  Two nights in a row--still getting some shadows throughout day and a little aching shadow type thing when I wake up--but believe me I'm not complaining and I think maybe they are on their way out.  Glad to hear you are getting out of the woods with these things too Chonas.  PFDAN to all!

Just an update--after 2 painfree nights, I had two HAs last night.  (no didn't have any salmon yesterday LOL).  Guess cycle is not over yet.  Anyway, these damn HAs don't want to let go.  Or maybe they have heard of the weekend headache phenomenon.  I dunno.  Well I am going to be looking more into the anti-inflammatory diet cause wow these painfree nights are a luxury I hope to have more of.  Well,, hope everyone is doing well.  Pain free to all of you, STar
