Title: Going To Try Melotonin Tonight Post by Superirish2005 on Aug 30th, 2006, 3:43pm Just talked to doctor and he stated Maxalt and Melatonin can be taken together. How many pills of Melatonin should I take? Is each pill 3 MG and if so should I take 3 or 4 pills for 10mg. If I wake up with a cluster tonight should I still pop a Maxalt? I only have 4 left. |

Title: Re: Going To Try Melotonin Tonight Post by prcole18 on Aug 30th, 2006, 5:30pm Different doses work for different people. I would start off low maybe 6mg & see how you get on. Also some people find taking a mixture of normal of timed release Melatonin work for them. I have found that the next day I have no energy sometimes after taking timed release Melatonin, well im presuming its that anyway. I'm currently taking 9mg of normal release each night. |

Do the webmaster (Not me) a favor and try to put all information pertaining to a certain subject in one thread you start. All these threads eventually have to be archived by the webmaster. Thanks. |

Good to here that you discussed this with the doc. Yes, it's readily available over the counter. I take 9mg when attacks are bad and drop to 6mg when things improve. Give it a week or two - it seems to take a little time to start getting results. You may feel a little more drowsy than usual the first few weeks that you take it - but this will decrease or dissappear entirely as you adjust to it. Keep us up to date. Tom |

Title: Re: Going To Try Melotonin Tonight Post by E-Double on Aug 30th, 2006, 7:11pm My magic # was 9 but was able to do 6. Do not be surprised if you wake up with an attack and feel groggy. Stick with it! Don't be surprised if you sleep through the night beautifully only to get whacked a bit after waking up PF. Stick with it! Good luck brother and take it after a nice hot shower about 30 -45 minutes prior to lying down to go to sleep. Enjoy and PF wishes! |

Title: Re: Going To Try Melotonin Tonight Post by starlight on Aug 30th, 2006, 8:27pm Superirish-- I started with 9 mg (Natrol brand at CVS)--that worked for a charm for a few nights. But I did end up having to "up" the dose sometimes every third night. A bit of advice--once you find a level that works for you, stay at it for 2 weeks past the point where you feel ANY head pain at all--like twinges during the day, shadows, etc. Do not alter the level--don't drop down because you are not feeling head pain--stay there for two weeks. You may find you have a lot of success with melatonin. Good luck. |
