Title: Tired & no Energy???
Post by prcole18 on Aug 28th, 2006, 10:56am
Does anyone else feel tired on Verapamil??

Im on 480mg a day

Also taking 9mg standard release Melatonin & 3-6mg timed release at night.

Plus tapering down off the Pred.

Im just so bloddy tired all day & have no energy, which aint a good thing cos if I fall asleep I wake up with a headache!

Just wondered if anyone else feels like this & if it is the Verapamil??

Paul

;;D ;;DI never had "being tired" as a side affect of the Verapamil, might be the Melatonin though,  I don't know how long you have been off the prednisone, but just that might make you feel tired compared to being dosed on it. after all Prednisone is synthetic adrenaline.
I have only tried the melatonin for the first time last night, I took 2 as I am a larger person.  6' 4" and 275#'s
You might try cutting back on the Melatonin and see if your energy level picks Up!  JMHO  Pappy

Verapamil makes me tired and it will constipate most people. Melatonin can make one tired the day after consuming it.

I was extremely tired and lethargic until I was switched from Extended release to immediate release verapamil. Then I was fine.
Now that I am off meds I am just tired from having an infant who does not sleep. ;)

480 mg/day and my ass drags all the time. I'm also on 900 mg/day of lithium and 2mg of Sansert 3x per day. I'm pretty sure it's the verapamil that causes the lethargy, though.

Think i'll cut back on the Melatonin. Maybe i'll just take the standard release & not the time release one.

I'm still waking up in the night anyhow  :-/

The standard is what the research suggests we should use.
Despite this doctors put us on extended /timer released etc....

Standard/immediate should be spread out in synch with your hits if you are like clockwork.

If you are not then it will still help to regulate or set a pattern as it did with me.

A huge difference was made when I switched.

In the beginning however it knocked my ass out but a few days later I got used to it and felt relatively good in comparison to how I felt while on the other stuff

Think my Verapamil are modified release.

So should the tiredness & no energy thing go away at some point & I will feel normal again? (the term normal being used very loosley  :-/)

Honestly, I felt better......
I did not feel normal (relatively hahaha) until I came off all meds.

Now I feel normal with exception of the shadow lurking.

PF wishes!

Tapering off of the pred can be exausting. Depending on how long you've been on it and at what dosages.  It may help if you talk to your dr. about taking it a little slower, considering above.

It can be the lack of sleep and the broken sleeps also.

I am a supporter, I dont have CH, but I have been up with my DH every time he had a hit during the night for the last 5 weeks and I am buggered! Really really tired and no energy too. It also can be the combination of everything, meds and all.

My DH is also on Verapamil, Lithium and Imigran ( Imitrex ). He did feel better after switching from the slow release Verapamil to the immediate release one though, also the slow release one wasnt controlling his blood pressure very well.

He is also now on multivitamins and calcium and magnesium. I think they do help.

Painfree wishes to you, hope your energy picks up soon.

Annette
