Title: Shadows and Whistle in the Ear Post by Boris on Aug 26th, 2006, 5:26pm Hello - I a an episodic cluster since the age of 19 (am 46 now). My eposides appear every 1-2 years and last between 2-4 months (have gotten longer since I found verapamil) , however these are trends and nothing that is consistant. I am really depressed currently since I am living far away (Fiji) and have long run out of Imitrex and have had a cluster episode lasting almost 5 moths, which is 2 months longer than any other one I have ever had in my life. I have in the past 4 days , after startign to reduce Verapamil to nil, gotten constant shadows with continuous pain (not the real pain, but continuouis as if a cluster will start) and continuous whistle inside my head. I don't know what to do and or if to start Verapamil again (have taken another pill of 120 mg since I am panicking). Anyone have had this before...? Is there anyone wuith advise or similar symptoms...? |

I had this too coming off of verapamil. It would acutally feel weird when I would walk, and it felt like I had a sinus infection. The hardest thing to do was avoid popping an imitrex because then that would cause a real rebound instead of the shadow. It eventually went away and I was CH free.... for a while. Good luck! |

Title: Re: Shadows and Whistle in the Ear Post by MJ on Aug 29th, 2006, 2:00am Hi Boris Tinnitus! Just a thought. I have heard of a relationship with CH before and dropping verapamil may be an instigator. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/tinnitus/DS00365/DSECTION=3 |

Could be that MJ is right on this. I developed Tinnitus about four years ago and it could be as a result of the length of time I worked around compressed air driven machinery without ear protection. I have noticed though that I can just about predict within a day or so that I will get hit as the ringing stops completely and returns when I get a PF period. Coincidence maybe but with the logging of events no matter how trivial they seem usually gives some indicator if you are able to recognise them. Tinnitus is annoying but I assure you that after a couple of years you become used to it. Kind Regards Barry |
