hey everyone. My boyfriend has been diagnosed with cluster headaches because he's had them since he was 13, but I have one big question for everyone.

I've noticed that all the postings it seems that you guys have pain in just one side of your head and or behind your eyes.
His aren't like that. DOES ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE HEADACHES IN THE CENTER (TOP) OF THEIR HEAD?

That does seem weird. I dont know of anyone with that type of pain. I wonder if he was misdiagnosed.

Does he get the watery eye and the stuffed nostril?

have you read the cluster traits on the left of the screen?

Cluster follows the pathway of the trigeminal nerve on one side of the head. That's why it presents in most of us as a one-sided pain that centers around the eye. I've never heard of it causing an attack in the center of the head.

The intensity sounds familiar, though.

Perhaps he needs a second opinion?

Answer is No.

clusters are allways on one side or the other.
Occasionally both sides but not the top of the head. He has been misdiagnosed.

pain sucks and I am so sorry that your bf is in it and thus you are too.

There are different HA types that may present similarly but differ in location, intensity and duration as well as responsiveness to meds.

Icepik HA for example feel like you're being electricuted literally hundreds of times and these may be unilateral OR all over the F-en place. I get these too.

Research different HA types as well.

Check out our Canadian contingent who may guide you towards HA clinics/specialists in your area.

I had a feeling he was misdiagnosed because his dad has cluster headaches, but his have all the right symptoms.

hey, No1 - I see you're in Red Deer. I'm in Calgary. :)

I agree - location of your b/f's pain sounds like it could be something else going on. There's a great headache clinic here in Calgary at the Foothills. Dr. Becker runs it - you should be able to get a referral to it. They deal with all types of h/a there.

LMAO Helen - I dunno - Red Deer folks can go either way. MOB's wife is from Red Deer and she cheers for the Oilers.

(FYI, Red Deer is almost exactly half way between Calgary (Flames) and Edmonton (Oilers) and is a smaller city than either of our two and the poor buggars don't have a hockey team of their own, so they have to pick either south (Flames) or north (Oilers). Let's hope this gal knows what's best (Flames).)
