Since December I get no less then 4 hits a day, those days are welcomed, I usually get 6 and as much as 12 in a 24 hour period lasting from 15 to 45 minutes.
What is considered 'normal' for this condition? I have not had one day without head pain since December. Also, between hits I get 'stabs' of pain. Guys, I got to tell you I am really tired. Thanks for any information and your support.

Hi Sophia, you could well have more than one headache type and ice picks springs to mind. Mention that to your doctor, indomethacin is very good for them but I don't know if it would conflict with anything else you're taking.
As tohow many hits.. well, we're all different hon.
3-4 a day is/was normal for me but every 5-6 weeks I'll have a "high" where I can get up to 8-10 a day for about a week.
Since I've been using the RC seeds I can get between 10-15 days pain free but if for whatever reason I can't dose on time or am on antibiotics, which is seemingly a favourite game for me to play this year, I revert ight back to my usual amount of hits and at the same sort of times too.
"Funny" old condition isn't it?
I think the long and the short of it is that whatever is "normal" for you is just that, normal for you. There isn't a standard pattern so far as I can see. I'm sure more responses to this thread will indicate just that.

Well, up till 3 days ago, I was getting about 6 hits a day ranging between a kip 4-6. But that all changed recently. Now, it's easily 8-10 a day, each lasting 1 hour almost to the "T". Most are a kip 5-6, with at least 2 of them peaking out at a kip 9 or 10.

I am chronic,in the good times I bump along with 1 or 2 during a night, that will last for a while, then it builds up a little more so some nights I get 3 or 4 at this stage all these are usually waking me from sleep. Now we go for the really exciting bit when the beasty comes on hard, at this stage he begins to appear at odd time during the day as well asnight time---- with no more warning than an tingly side of the nose. The wee beasty will then hand around for however long he want and nothing I say or do will make him go, something just don't know when they are not welcome. this will last for several weeks gradually easing back to bumping along at 1 or 2 a-night Good ain't it -----Cheers Roy ;;D

Dearest BobP, I'm sorry, but I must differ with you. There isn't anything "normal" about CH, or Clusterheads! ;;D

Everybody, and I mean everybody has different cycles, different number of hits, different intensities of hits, different length of hits, different seasons, different triggers.

The one thing I think we could all say about this beast is that he/she/it is very creative in the ways we are tormented.

The best thing we all do here is share information so that others might find something that helps them, and we might find something that helps us.

And, based upon finally meeting some of these zany Clusterheads that post on these boards - there is nuttin normal about us. We are absolutely great people ;;D

The diagnostic criteria for Ch is 1 or 2 a day to 8 per day.

I'm a 2 a dayer when in cycle, with the occasional wake out of a dead sleep one thrown in for good measure.

I hope you're on some type of a preventative and also hope you have oxygen or something else for an abortive. That's a lot of hits to take without help.

4 to 6 for me, Topamax brought it up to 10. No more Topamax for me thankyou.......

I'm episodic. In cycle, I only get one a day in the middle of the cycle--fewer at both ends. Inevitably, ninety minutes after I fall asleep.

I should explain, though, that my hits are long--typically two or more hours in length, and they peak seven or eight times, complete with a new round of dripping and sweating. Ugly things on the left side with a persistent shadow afterward that lasts into the next day. They leave me completely drained and exhausted.

I dunno. Could each peak be considered an individual "hit"? I've always thought of them as being part of an entire nasty midnight symphony.

They're what Flash calls a "dirty" hit. Nearly all my hits are "dirty".
