Title: CH and Computer Work/Stress Post by headbanger45 on Aug 1st, 2006, 11:09am Still thank you guys for having a place to feel welcome, when most of the world says, "it's just a headache, get over it." I'm epesodic and think I've found MY trigger. In the last few years, I've had a rough time of it during the cycles, K-10's last round, for the first time. I'm now keeping a journal (sounds like a high school girl - ha), but I'm seeing a trend and this summer - usually when I get hammered the worst, I've not seen the beast at all. All other cycles have happened when I've had a big project on me with deadlines and work on the computer a lot. So, without being long winded, I think the stress associated with these projects along with many hours looking into a computer monitor started the shadows of the beast - and we all know what happens next. Just wondering if anyone out there thinks this could real or BS. Oh, by the way, beer kicks my ass - I love it, but just can't pay the price anymore. MY other trigger....damnit ! Hang in there fellow CH'ers - and thanks for all the info. United WE stand against this beast.... |

Title: Re: CH and Computer Work/Stress Post by kevinpix on Aug 1st, 2006, 11:42am I find the act of watching t.v. or the computer screen causes me problems. Probably the eye strain. I get fewer hits the more that I'm busy cleaning the yard than reading a book. It's when I settle down and relax is when I would get the beast back. Hope that helps! |

Title: Re: CH and Computer Work/Stress Post by Karla on Aug 1st, 2006, 12:47pm That is exactly the theory that my neuro, dr, and shrink all thought. I worked long hours, on multiple conversion projects as a SR computer programmer/system analyst consultant. They were so sure they told me to quit working. I quit working and went on disability. Bottom line. I still had ch even with no stress! It didn't lesson the number of hits or the severity of the hits. So I think that is just coincidental. I also get hit in the summer time real bad and intense because heat is a trigger for me. |

Title: Re: CH and Computer Work/Stress Post by kevinpix on Aug 1st, 2006, 12:51pm Do you believe REM sleep is a trigger for you? What about the eye strain with reading off the computer? |

Title: Re: CH and Computer Work/Stress Post by headbanger45 on Aug 1st, 2006, 1:32pm Kevinpix, I normally get hit right after I crash - way before REM. If I get to REM - I'm good. |

Title: Re: CH and Computer Work/Stress Post by rbmb on Aug 1st, 2006, 1:55pm I've gone through some real stressful times at work and not been bothered by HAs and have been attacked when things are not especially stressful, so I haven't been able to make a connection between stress and CH (at least in my case). However, when in cycle, the HAs seem to come on after work when I sit down and relax. I think this is more a function of the time of day than anything else.......I always get hit in early evening or soon after falling asleep......almost never in the morning or afternoon. Rich |

Title: Re: CH and Computer Work/Stress Post by Sandy_C on Aug 1st, 2006, 5:47pm I sit in front of a computer screen for 50 to 60 hours per week, doing lighting layouts, which involve CAD drawings, looking at thousands of little bitty numbers on my screen, and deadlines for getting my designs out. Stress doesn't seem to play a part in my cycles or hits, for that matter. I'm typically hit in the evenings, around 8:00 to 8:30, going on into the night. I get some nighttime hits, but Melatonin before bed last cycle seemed to help that. I have gotten hit during the afternoons, around 2:00, but not often. I seem to get hit when I relax after dinner in the evenings. So, I think I LOVE being stressed out! :-/ Sandy |

Title: Re: CH and Computer Work/Stress Post by BobG on Aug 1st, 2006, 6:38pm If you get an attack while in front of the screen then I'd say that is the trigger. But, You say it is after you crash.........It's the relaxing after the stress that is the trigger. |
