Title: How do your cycles end? Post by hbomb on Jul 24th, 2006, 10:19am Just wondering if any of you can quickly indicate how your cycles end. Do they taper, do they escalate, etc. Any pattern over the years? Also average duration? |

Title: Re: How do your cycles end? Post by seasonalboomer on Jul 24th, 2006, 10:30am It varies for virtually everyone. Mine just pretty much stop. The little feeling I have behind my eyeballs that tells me "you better be careful or I'll hit you" kind of gets out and leaves one day. And then after a couple more days I'll try to commence my activities that are sometimes triggers, and then usually I know for sure. Scott |

Title: Re: How do your cycles end? Post by jon019 on Jul 24th, 2006, 11:24am ...decreasing frequency 10-8-6-4-2-1-0. Night hits first to ramp down, then day hits. As others have noted, a really bad hit right at the end that can "almost" put a smile on my face through the claw marks, cuz it means END OF CYCLE! At that point, like Scott, I start filtering in the triggers that I have a choice about for the next few days. Am usually right but have missed it a few times. Duration of past cycles 6-8 weeks on and 6-8 off for 20 years. After that changed to totally random Regards Jon |

Title: Re: How do your cycles end? Post by Sandy_C on Jul 24th, 2006, 12:38pm Decreasing frequency and intensity toward end of cycle, then, like Jon said, goes out with a big BANG. One last biggie, some light shadows and ice picks for a couple of days, then nothing - and life is grand again. ;;D My cycles have no particular pattern that I've been able to discern - been hit during all seasons, all weather, whenever. Shortest cycle was 8 weeks, longest was 16 weeks (but with a week PF break in between? Went 12 weeks straight on the right side, 1 week PF thinking it's over for a while, then bingo, three more weeks on the left side! [smiley=huh.gif] Never been hit on the left side before - didn't know how to cope those last three weeks. Sandy |

Title: Re: How do your cycles end? Post by hbomb on Jul 24th, 2006, 12:40pm I just had one of those #10s yesterday afternoon which was unbearable. It was unusual to get one at 2 in the afternoon. I was thinking/hoping that the cycle might be nearing it's end. I am into the 8th week. Didn't have one last night when I usually get them. Thanks, John |

Title: Re: How do your cycles end? Post by starlight on Jul 24th, 2006, 2:02pm Usually about 3/4 into cycle I "peak"--meaning they get worse and longer and then one night there emerges a KIP 10 (or maybe 11) slammer of a headache that will basically kick my ass. this #10 whopper will be the longest of all the headaches. Then, the next night I will feel very relieved when I realize that the headache that wakes me up that night is like a 7--much tamer and then they will taper from there and then one day poof--gone. |

Title: Re: How do your cycles end? Post by Richr8 on Jul 24th, 2006, 4:47pm Very similar to others. Declining frequency and intensity over several weeks. |

Title: Re: How do your cycles end? Post by JeffB on Jul 24th, 2006, 6:55pm Taper. Week 4-5 is my peak, then start heading towards the valley. |

Title: Re: How do your cycles end? Post by georgej on Jul 24th, 2006, 7:49pm They end with a whimper, not a bang. Decreasing intensity and frequency. Cycle length of approximately 6 weeks. I consider them "over" when I've gone seven days without a hit. Then I take the beer test. I usually pass. Best, George |

Title: Re: How do your cycles end? Post by toonzboss on Jul 24th, 2006, 8:34pm When this one does end I think I'll be one happy PF camper, right now I'm hanging on with white knuckles! This one has got to be the MF from the pit of HELL! I've always been a Lefty, but yesterday I woke up and all day and into today my Right nasal was stuffed up and running with some sneezing and this am the sneezing increased, no ch and then around 4:10pm I was working and started getting shadows in my left eye as usual pre-ch, I came home, I work and live on the property, and killed 2 Red Bulls and in about 10 min. GONE totally GONE! I still had an average headache on the Right with the congestion, but ch? GONE. I came home at 5 fed my baby (Chocolate Lab) Hanna, had coffee and watched Dr. Phil and waited till 6 to get my 2 episodes of Sienfeld fix, and at about 6:40 WHAM! the beast returned, Red Bull but My God this mf wasn't going no damn where, it is 8:30 now and it is just now easing off enough where I can stand a lighted room and look at my monitor. This one, all things considered is the "10" of this cycle. I'm gonna work on getting o2 asap!!! |
