Title: chronic no more ??
Post by chopmyheadoff on Jul 19th, 2006, 10:01am
iv been chronic for 7 years.
i only get 2 a day at the most though.
usually a 5-6 to "warm me up" in the afternoon
and then the nightly 9-10 at about 9-10 ocklock funilly enough !! >:(

i only got diagnosed 2 weeks ago after going to hospital because i couldnt take it anymore.

i usually get a ch every day for about 3 weeks, with maybe one day off here and there, and then get 3 or 4 days pain free where i can drink till my hearts content !!

strangely enough, since iv been diagnosed, and am fully kitted out with my imigran - i have not had a headache !! [smiley=huh.gif]

this is really strange because like i say iv NEVER been even half this long pain free before.

Im now thinking that its because im no longer so scared of getting one because i know i have the imigran on standby. So i guess i am wondering . . could this be some kind of phsycosematic thing or is it just fluke ??  :-/

your thoughts ladies and gents ?

I was chronic for 30 years, and then about 13 months ago they just stopped cold. I have had just a few light shadows since, but about a week or so ago I did wake up full blown that I killed in minutes with Zomig.

One HA in 13 months?....Ill take it...LOL ;;D

Even though I have had this great stretch of luck I never let my ammo get low, I will always be ready anytime this bitch wants to dance!!!

I was chronic all through teen years until about 21 years old. Finally a headache specialist (Kudrow in Encino, CA) gave correct diagnosis. Chronic attacks were broken taking high doses of Verapamil and CafergotPB as abortive. Last cycles I've need to change up the verapamil and prednisone taper with StadolNS and Maxalt to get through, but cycles seem to be further and further apart (six years free last time!). Also I use a TENS (electrical stimulation) during cycles to abort/ease attacks and to ease tension several times throughout the day. As I noted in other posts, massage was useful too. Also ice, and about everything else you could think of! I've taken Meprobamate during spring and fall occasionally to ward off the dreaded cluster cycle. Best of luck and prayers for you Chop! Hoping you'll need to change your screen name, Rich

I'VE got good news!  I am a chronic clusterhead of over 4 yrs now.  Last year i had trigenial noralsia surgery, excuse my spelling.  As of now, no more pain, pills, or the aweful terror filled life that I was forced to live!  The surgery killed all of the nerves on my left side of my face and head.  His name is Dr. Wayne Hurt of Houston, Tx.  Price?  About $5,800!  Cheap compared to all the money I've spent on pills, oxygen, dr visits, emergency visits, and other expences.  write me back and I'll fill you in on the details and phone numbers.  Good luck and Godbless!!!
