Title: I'm seeing spots Post by BarbaraD on Jul 18th, 2006, 5:51pm This just started yesterday -- think it's been discussed here at one time - but I'm seeing spots in the afternoon. Doesn't seem to bother me the rest of the day, but about his time of day (since yesterday) my vision just goes to spotty. it goes away after a while, but right now I'm seeing blank spaces in what I'm typing. Is it just me??? Hugs BD |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by floridian on Jul 18th, 2006, 6:44pm Could it be ocular migraine or migraine aura? Do you see the spot even when your eyes are closed? |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by Sean_C on Jul 18th, 2006, 11:38pm Barb your body gives you subtle signs when something "could" be wrong. Please make an appointment with your GP just to make sure its just "spots" [smiley=huh.gif] Sean................................ |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by BarbaraD on Jul 19th, 2006, 7:20am Good idea Sean... I have an appointment with my neuro tomorrow. It's just weird - like I've been looking into the sun and then walk into a dark room. Hugs BD |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by brewcrew on Jul 19th, 2006, 7:56am Barb - I get the same thing once every couple of months. Lasts 20 to 30 minutes, and the hot spots start in the center of my field of vision, then slowly progress toward the periphery over that time period. Completely painless. My opthamologist told me it's occular migrane and is harmless. I'm not a doctor (but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night), so I can't say that's what you've got, but I would get it checked out, if for no other reason than peace of mind. Bill |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by thomas on Jul 19th, 2006, 9:16am When I'm in cycle, I have a "spot" in my field of vision that I can't see. It's there between hits. It really fucks up my bowling game sometime. I also have a tic in my CH eye, all the time when in cycle. Makes my waitress think I'm flirting with her. |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by Gena on Jul 19th, 2006, 9:20am I get them damn spots as well, the only time they hurt is when I try and focus on the spots. ::) |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by BarbaraD on Jul 19th, 2006, 3:18pm Thomas, if it makes you feel any better, I had the eye ticks for years and then out of the blue they just stopped. It's probably been a couple of years since I had them. These things cause strange things in a person. Right now the temp in my house is at meat hanging temp and I've got on the fewest possible articles of clothing I can manage with a four year old in the house (don't even touch that one Jonny) and I'm still burning up. Even the dog went outside to thaw out. I just can't seem to cool off..... Hugs BD |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by Margi on Jul 19th, 2006, 3:37pm barb - mebbe call that doc today ok? Flo and Bill are right - this is a sign of occular migraine. But the heating up thing could mean something else....don't mess with it. Maybe just call the doc and ask ok? Let us know. Hugs Margi |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by thomas on Jul 19th, 2006, 3:53pm The hypothalamus controls body temperature as well. So it may be just another symtom, but I would go get it all checked just to be safe, you'd piss us all off if you let something happen to ya, Mom. :-* |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by BarbaraD on Jul 19th, 2006, 4:00pm The heat thing is nothing new. When I'm in high cycle I always "heat up" and until the cycle switches I burn up. The doc knows about it and just laughs at me (I told him I was going thru menapause AGAIN!!!) I may just move to the North Pole and become an elf.... :D Hugs BD |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by suffermom on Jul 19th, 2006, 11:24pm I don't know if mine are "spots" or "floaters", but I have a blurry section in my field or vision. It was very annoying while I was trying to drive today, so I took 2 excedrine migraine pills and it went away in about 15 minutes. Hopefully it's not a mini-stroke and just another symptom of my bout of clusters. This is my second time that I have had this symptom, so I guess I'll have to get used to it. |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by jon019 on Jul 20th, 2006, 12:16am Hi All, Spots, floaters, jagged flashers, got 'em all. Got to get to the opthamologist but methinks it's all part of the CH. Regards Jon |

Opthamologists can't do much for jagged flashers - they are in the optical cortex of the brain, not the eyes. When I get an ocular migraine I want to close my eyes, but it doesn't help - the blinkies and jaggies are still there. A good GP or a neurologist is the person to see. |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by BarbaraD on Jul 21st, 2006, 6:09am Had a little castrophe (tree fell on top of my truck during a storm) yesterday and missed my appt. I'm going to see my GP next week if I can get there without another mishap (or at least call him). My "spots" weren't there yesterday, so maybe they're gone. But I'm OK. Thanks for caring. Hugs BD |

And now she is seeing red spots! Does this only happen when you get attacked? Whenh my CH is in full bloom all sorts of visionary things happen but subside when the attack subsides. |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by Sandy_C on Jul 21st, 2006, 10:50am Barb I get the hot white spot that radiates outward until it disappears - occular migrane. If I close my eyes, that hot spot is still there. I also have the black "floaters" in my vision. But if I see "spots", many white little spots, that means my blood pressure has rapidly dropped. Check your BP and make sure it's OK. Just my two cents Sandy |

Title: Re: I'm seeing spots Post by seasonalboomer on Jul 21st, 2006, 11:02am spots floaters etc... I get em too. The specks, or occlusions at certain times are like having gnats flying around me. Recently I actually had a few gnats I couldn't get out of my office so I thought I was losing my mind. My bright spots sometimes hit during exercise, and it's like a bright tennis ball right in the middle of my field of vison. I once did a google look-up on the specks and found articles that said pleasuring one's self can lead to occlusions.......hmmmmm....... I still have specks........ scott |

See, Scott? Your mother was right. It WILL make you go blind. You gotta listen to Mom. Otherwise, you'd end up in emergency with your eye poked out, your face frozen into an expression she told you should shouldn't have made and... you'd probably be wearing dirty underpants. Moms know, man. |
