Is anyone in here and active duty service member in the U.S.? I am in the navy and I have kept my CHs to my self for fear of being medically discarched and then having no way to support my wife and two kids, but the pain has recently become so unbearable that I had to tell my Doc. We've been able to try a few things but now I worried that since this is in my medical record that it could raise a few flags with people espescially since im going to see the neuro soon. If any one has had any prior experiance with the armed forces and CHs please let me know. Thanks for all the support yall.

Several months ago we had a longish series of messages an active USAF person. The end result was that she obtained good care and, I recall, referral to a good neurologist.

A zillion years ago when I was in the USAF Medical Service CH would not have been disqualifying problem.

Hey Navy, I was active duty Air Force when I first got ch,
also overseas stationed at Eskisehir AB Turkey. That assgt. was a small American Detachment on a Turkish AFB, we had a great on-site medic and good local medical assistance if needed from the Turks, but when mine were intense and waking me up at 1 or 2 am and lasting close to an hour and by the time I got to sleep I was so exhausted that I wasn't hearing my alarm at 5:30 or 6:00 and it was going to interfere with my job so I just made an appt. at our support base at Ankara AS about 3 or 4 hours drive away and saw an 06 AF doc who was the first to tell me what they were (Clusters) anyway she prescribed Elavil and I slept like a baby and never had another one wake me at all and I may have had one or two during the day but I can't even say for sure but it was a lifesaver and to the best of my knowledge no one ever really cared that I was taking meds which was a concern for me in that my job at the time required a Secret Security Clrnc. but nothing ever
changed and for my next CONUS assgmt. I had to get a Top Secret SBI (Special Background Investigation) and got it and the assignment and nothing was ever mentioned, and that was in 86/87 so I would be very surprised if you had any negative responses. Good Luck.

The little guy who started this site is active AF and has also come down with a BAD other disease - Moya Moya. He has managed very well and would probably be happy to help you. It hasn't affected his career choice.

I think there's a lot of vets on here who have had this problem and it wasn't a problem. Most of them got good care.
