Title: Strange start to a cycle Post by kingsiren on Jun 30th, 2006, 11:17pm Hi everyone Im back and I can't say that I'm glad to be here....I have been on a 2 year episodic schedule for about 14 years now, 2 month bouts and i have only found treatment in the last 6 years (Thank God for small mercies). Well, last Spring I had some legal problems and that brought on a boat load of stress. I had a 6 week attach of CH's that I was finally able to tame with Topomax. I hoped that they would stay away for another 2 years but 3 weeks ago I left for a trip to Europe and landed in Amsterdam after a long 7 hour flight. I dont drink alcohol but I do smoke an occassional doobieand that evening when i laid down for a nap before dinner i woke up with a 4-5, not unbearable and im lucky that for a semi mild ch i can bear the pain by standing under a steaming hot shower until it subsides. I had another mild ch later that night ant then none for days. I didnt have any imitrex but i started the topomax immediately and went to see a doctor to get a refill of Topomax and imitrex. This has been one of my worst attacks yet, i cut the trip early and flew home today so I could get home to my precious stash of 02......the Topomax is not working and I will go see my half wit neurologist and try and beg him to prescribe me something else. For some reason this time if I smell flowers i start to get a ch, it has never happened before. Does anyone else have this experience? Also has anyone had an onset after a long flight, perhaps due to jet lag? Im sure smoking joint after joint of dutch pot didnt help either but I guess I'm a glutton for punishment........ |

Title: Re: Strange start to a cycle Post by pattik on Jun 30th, 2006, 11:28pm Hi Kingsiren, Ch is notorious for morphing. Just when you think you have a schedule figured out, it will change on you. Sorry you had a reason to return here, but there is much here to read and learn. For me, traveling can trigger and episode, and pot can also trigger hits for some of us. I am especially sensitive to perfumes when I'm in a cycle. You might want to check out Clusterbusters for future reference--especially if you might be returning to Amsterdam. http://www.clusterbusters.com/ |

Title: Re: Strange start to a cycle Post by dissident on Jul 3rd, 2006, 2:19am There have been quite a few instances where CH cycles are triggered by flights, especially long ones. I'm not sure why, maybe it has something to do with pressure or something. I have been a chronic smoker (bout a 1/2 lb per month)of high quality MJ for around 14 years (until 5 months ago...quit cause baby is on the way and couldn't risk everything associated with growing..anybody wanna buy some 1000 watters and an aeroponic system LOL) and it always seemed to trigger my CH when in cycle. It was never a problem when I was in remission though. P.S. Kingsiren, If your ever in the Dam again may I suggest De Dampkrings Super Silver Haze or NYC Diesel ::)? Very Kind! |

Title: Re: Strange start to a cycle Post by Weatherman on Jul 3rd, 2006, 10:05am Flowers and perfumes seem to set me off when I'm in cycle too. Any real sweet smells for that matter. Don't know if you have tried it but I've had very good results with the prednisone taper and varapamil. It makes me edgy but it has broken my last 2 cycles including this one. I'm in my 4th day of prednisone and have been headache free for almost 2 days now. And I was getting hit hard before I started the treatment. Just food for thought Good luck!! Doug |
