I have been suffering from this demon for over 14 years.  I am only 29.  I was looking around today and saw an article about pepper spray, something called sinus buster that supposedly works for cluster headaches.  Apparently this guy has been on Oprah with this.  I was just wondering if anyone had tried this.  I am picking up my 5th prescription and my first attempt with home oxygen tonight.  
I am happy that there are others out there who can understand my pain.  My husband of 2 months is very understanding, but I dont like talking to him about it because it makes him feel so guilty that he cannot help.

Try the oxygen to see if it works before you put yourself through the pepper spray. If the precentages are right, there's a really good chance O2 will be all you need.

As for Sinus Busters, if you're serious, avoid it. It is snake-oil and from what I've read, an incredibly painful experience that largely diverts your attention from the pain of CH for a short time as you just snorted a pepper up your nose, leaving with the CH, a handful of snot and a bad experience.

Episodic CH patients appeared to benefit more than chronic CH patients. These results indicate that intranasal capsaicin may provide a new therapeutic option for the treatment of this disease.

May take the edge off but hasn't "stopped" clusters.

OK I hate to admit that I did try the pepper spray, but I was that desperate, so after my wife peeled me off the ceiling all three times they suggested I use the crap I did not feel my head hurting but I also did not feel anything but my nose burning like I had just stuck a red hot poker up it. But once the burning stopped, my head still hurt so everyone is right when they say it is snake oil. Save your money and your nose from the agony, it really does burn like hell.

They said it all regarding the pepper spray. About the oxygen, not sure what your set up is, but do take a second to read the link on the left. You need a high flow non re breather mask to get the benefits. Used wrong it won't work and some people prematurely give up on it. Hoping it proves the miracle for you that it is for me.

Oprah had THAT on her show?

But she has not felt it relevant enough to do a show on rare conditions like CH?  even after a lot of people here have written to her regarding doing  just that?   Unbelievable.

Oprah NEVER endorsed this product. You have to read the fine print to figure that out though.

If I remember correctly the guy claims he was on an episode of Oprah about self-defense for women. He was playing an attacker. He landed himself on the show for being willing to be sprayed several times in the face with pepper spray. Supposively after that he was asked to be on many other tv shows to get sprayed in the face with self-defense pepper spray, because he was willing to be sprayed in the face, nothing to do with Sinus Busters. He claims after he was sprayed many times his "cluster headaches" went away, which inspired his product idea. The "As seen on Oprah" thing he is referencing is HIM, not his useless product. My thought on that is that if it were true he would have labeled the product something to do with cluster headaches, not "Sinus Busters."

There are some studies that suggest capsaicin, the chemical in peppers that gives them heat, may reduce the pain of cluster headaches SLIGHTLY after many weeks of painful use. Many other preventatives are statistically MUCH better. Why use painful ones that are likely to induce migraines when you already have CH?

BTW- if you bought some of this stuff you may find it useful to sprinkle around plants to keep out cats and certain bugs.

I sprayed it on the base of my shrubbery and on my sprinkler heads to keep my chocolate lab puppies from chewing them to nubs........come to think of it...neither puppy ever developed cluster headaches.......hmmmmm

I had a visual of this when I first read the question.  By the time I reached Guiseppe's blurb about puppies, I'm done for.  

Jenrob2006, I don't think I'd try this one.  Have you read about kudzu and clusterbusters?

I've used Sinus Buster. You have a better chance at curing CH with Tahitian Noni Juice than you do with that crap!! It's like sniffing crushed habanero. :o

Reminds me of a memo going around to people in my company that do surveying and other field work.  There have been an unusual number of gator attacks on people in Florida this year. The memo suggested that we avoid startling the nesting gators (which are territorial) by moving slowly and wearing bells and other noisemakers.  The company also issued pepper spray.  There was information about identifying the locations that gators live in, especially noticeable by their droppings.  The size of the droppings is NOT a clue - alligators of any size can eat a lot if food is plentiful, or very little if food is scarce. Small, harmless gators leave droppings with many fish bones. Large, dangerous gators leave droppings that contain larger bones, little bells, and which smell like pepper spray.

When I started my CH he warned me of the snake-oil
and still my wife got it for me............

As part of our training in my ex-job, we had to take a class to be qualified in the use of OC (oleoresin capsicum) pepper spray.  Training happened to occur when I was in the midst of a cycle.  Among other things, we were required to take a full facial hit of the stuff.  

My partner, may he rot in habenero hell, made sure to hose me until I dripped.  Everybody else had talked about how much it hurt, but I remember thinking...hmmm....this ain't so bad.  Didn't really slow me down very much, and if my eyes hadn't shut involuntarily, I would have nailed him.

Later that night, I got hit with the CH.  Other than stinking of stale mexican food while wrestling with a HA, I can't say the spray did much for me.  

Haven't tried the hyped stuff for CH, but I doubt it does much good.
