Title: Surgery During CH Cycle?
Post by Thorns on Jun 7th, 2006, 4:10pm
Has anyone here ever had a major surgery (requiring full anesthesia) during a CH cycle or know of any complications with being put under with CH?

I am having my second sinus surgery in 4 years later this month and I haven't been able to get more than 3-5 hours of sleep a night in the last two weeks. I told them this in pre-op today and my concerns with my mental and physical state of exhaustion. However, my primary care doctor says that I will be fine and that the surgery may even stop the cylce or at least give me some good nights of sleep.

I'm not sure whether or not I should just postpone or proceed  b/c it took me 3 months to get the date in the first place. Any thoughts/experiences?

Thank you,

Chris

I've had surgery a few times. Had a problem once when I woke up in the recovery room screamin' with a KIP 10 !! I yelled "Imitrex" over and over until they gave me a jab. I was fine in 5 minutes and back to sleep for the rest of the day.  :)

Goodluck

Unsolved1,
Are you chronic or episodic and did the surgery change your cycle pattern as far as frequency and intensity? Thank you for responding,

Chris

I have had several surgeries with no problems.  That is until my last surgery.  I am chronic and usually get 8 hits a day.  I am on a preventative that has keept me pain free for the last 4 years.  However, after the surgery I started getting hit 2x a day working its way up to 8 hits a day.  This went on for 6 weeks.  I thought my preventative had quit working for me and sceduled an apt in the ha clinic.  However, as soon as I did that my ch stopped.  So I canceled my apt and have been pain free for the last couple of months.  My dr and I figure the anastesia triggered a reaction.  Im fine now.

Well,

I had my sinus surgery yesterday and no luck with the beast giving me a break.

I actually went into surgery with about KP 2-3 and woke with the same level. I requested O2 and it subsided a little b/c they would not give me a non-rebreather mask or 12 LPM as my prescription stated or an imitrex shot. At least it wasn't a bad one, which is probably a result of clusterbusters treatment and taurine.

Just thought I would update those interested. I'm off to recover (w/ some nice pain meds and sleeping pills) and get rested in order to put some serious energy into breaking this cycle.

While each person's medical condition may effect the outcome of surgery and the danger associated with it, I had neurosurgery for my chronic CH and was given a general anesthetic without any problems.

Every single time, I've ever had surgery, I've woken up to a KIP 10.   I learned after the 1st time to make it a point ( a very strong one at that)  to have the 02 ready for me to use as well as the Trex.

I don't have a cycle because I'm chronic, but I would think that if you're not in cycle you won't be triggered.  If you are in cycle...see above.

Good sugery vibes to you.   http://bestsmileys.com/comfort/2.gif
