Title: Cerebellum Tonsillar Ectopedia Post by Pickens on Apr 26th, 2006, 9:03am Hello, Thank you for helping me get started on a new topic. I am looking for any information on this topic. My brother has cluster headaches, but has been diagnosed with this, plus a Chjari Malfunction Type 1. I do not know if all the spelling is correct, this is how it came to me. I have been searching for information. They are talking surgery if the growth does not stop! Please, if anybody knows anything or knows where I can get some information I would appreciate it very much. Thanks |

Title: Re: Cerebellum Tonsillar Ectopedia Post by Redd715 on Apr 26th, 2006, 10:12am Bob posted good information to start from. My Mother had the Type 2 malformation. This is where the cerrebellum and brain stem protrude from the bottom of the skull and and compress down into the opening to the spinal collumb (sp). She had to have 2 inches of the rear bottom portion of the skull removed and the rear parts of the first two cervical vertibra removed and a large (6 inch) piece of artificial dura implanted to protect the now exposed cerribellum and brain stem. She had some post surgical complications due to issues other than the surgery itself, and she was in her early 70's as well. She recovered well from this, so read up all you can about the condition and please try to relax. Neuro Surgery has advanced greatly and the risks, though they are there, are much less serious than in years past. Pegg |

Title: Re: Cerebellum Tonsillar Ectopedia Post by Pickens on Apr 26th, 2006, 10:32am Hello, Thank you for your input. Yes, I have finally found something that might help me lead to other information. If anyone is interested in the articles they are Can Minimal Cerebellar Tonsillar Ectopia Can be Symptomatic? Minimal Tonsillar Ectopia is the running title. Then there is Chiari Type I Malformation. It helps when the words are spelled right. Thanks |
