Title: disability

hey just wondering if anyone has gotten disability from cluster headaches? I've had to quit my job about 4 months ago and am running low on money. Any help would be great.

What do you do for a living?

2 yrs chronic a, special ed. teacher and a behavior analyst.
I just closed down a bulk of a private practice and have gone back to a 9-5 working for a major hospital system in NY.
Deal with the daily attacks day and night but go about business.

I am not suggesting that some can not do this or shouldn't but I do think that with this condition it is important to keep some normalcy and working will help your mental state.

Good luck and as a wise man on the board puts it
"Never postpone life for fear of CH"

well I was mostly doing call center work....which def did not help with the headaches. Other then that I had my own business and managed 4 retail stores. I did try working again but the attacks do hinder me from my day-to-day routine and have been trying to get at least a part time job lately. But not too sure if I could do that as most of my attacks happen around 12pm and 9pm

Lay,

I've been chronic since 97 and it's not easy, but most of us learn to cope with the CH. I'm an accountant and life gets pretty stressful at times and stuff has to be accurate and with the CH sometimes that's really a chore, but after years of practice I manage.

Best advice I can give you is find a doc you can work with and get the formula that is "right" for you to help you get thru the pain as quickly as possible (some use trex - others ergotomines - 02 - Verap, lithium - whatever "your" formula happens to be).

I'd like to go back to the days before CH (they didn't hit me till later in life), but I don't even remember much about those days any more. I have CH - Now I make lemonade.. oh you know what I mean - I always mix up my medaphores (or how ever you spell that word).

Just don't let CH rule your life.....

Hugs BD
