Post by mynm156 on Apr 13th, 2006, 12:30am
BAD DAY!  Multiple hits!

But as I battle the in between shadows and near constant CH I am geting these optical flashes it looks like lightning and no cluster buster therapy involved.  Anybody have something like this before?  I have had some black spot floters everyonce in a while but never this.

GOOD VIBES GANG!

I get these sometimes, I think only during daytime hits, which tend to be few for me. Only in my CH eye, though, and only after the attack has been aborted, not during the attack.

Call your eye dr just in case you're having retina problems. I think I may have read about some people who have auras with CH, but if it's new, you should probably check it. Those symptoms also occur in detached retinas. Sorry your head is acting up, Howard. Stay strong.

New to me, and for all my reading I don't recall mention of it.

My first thought is to get your blood pressure checked and perhaps discuss it with your doctor.  We tend to blame many things on CH when in fact it's simply a normal part of growing up and paying excessive tax.

156....

The only time I had black floaters was when I was on massive doses of Topomax many years ago.  Once it got out of my system, they were gone.

As for flashing lights...I too am have been getting flashes, but it's usually as the cluster is going away after taking an abortive.  Maybe it's all in my head (no pun intended LOL) but it's my way of feeling that ease when you know you're going to be pain free soon.  They don't last long and it's not every time - but it's something I've noticed during this cycle.

Hey mynm

Anything like this.

A snap or a pop and a flash. Happens in a fraction of a second.

Other times its like being hit by a bullet.

I do get that if so. In cycle and out. This is not a lasting thing for me nor repetitive but sometimes a frequent  happening.
I seldom get this during a full on CH hit.
Bamm attacks.

I get the visual's too. Like squigley (si) lightning that I can see with eyes open or shut, I also sometimes get  dark clouds that pass thru my vision during an attack.
My Neuro says this is more common in Migraines than CH. Could have fooled me.

I wish that more Neuros would take the time to learn more from there patients than from a book. Most books say the same shit.  MALE, A TYPE PERSONALITY, SMOKES, insert generic CH discription, BLAH, BLAH ,BLAH.
I too hate it when they try to lump us into a box.  If we were all the same they why doesnt the same treatment work for even most of us?

These have ended for now but they were more during the shadows if there were any at all during a Cluster I dont recall.  There were no auditory sounds with them but it was EXACTLY like a bolt of lightning appeared forked out  and dissappeared.  I was FINALLY able to break the constant chain today!  It was four days of almost nonstop attacks.

GOOD VIBES
