Title: Question on length of attacks, remission Post by danm on Apr 5th, 2006, 10:26am I guess this would only apply to episodic sufferers like myself but I am curious. What was your longest cycle? Shortest? What was your longest period of remission? Shortest? I am just getting over my longest cycle ever....a little over 3 months...shortest was probably about a week. Longest remission was about 18 months, shortest was about 2 months. Here's to all of us finding peace ;) Dan |

Title: Re: Question on length of attacks, remission Post by BobG on Apr 5th, 2006, 10:41am Longest cluster, 12 weeks. Shortest, 4 weeks Longest remission period, one year. Shortest, one year. But, I like to think that I've been in remmision for the last 6 years. Every year for the last 6 years I've had a 6 to 8 week cluster of shadows, KIP 1 to 3. Mostly just irritating as hell so I don't count them as real clusters. |

Title: Re: Question on length of attacks, remission Post by burnt-toast on Apr 5th, 2006, 10:42am Roll the dice question here Dan. Virtually everyone is going to have different cycle/remission periods which are as unique as the indivudual(s) suffering from this disorder. Tom |

My longest cluster cycles was just over 3 years. Shortest cluster 4 months. Longest remission from pain 3 years. shortest remission was around 6 weeks. Average cycles 4-5 months between no average but used to be every 11 months first 10 years or so. Next 10 yrs closer cycles. Next 10 years remission times no logic. In cycle the attacks seldom vary and allways 8-12 hits daily. I just now decided that I am going to quit having clusters if they cant redevelop some predictability. Thats it I quit. If they cant play fair and stop sneaking up on me, then I'm not playing at all. |

Title: Re: Question on length of attacks, remission Post by NotH20 on Apr 5th, 2006, 3:43pm I've been like clockwork since 1980 when I was diagnosed. Cycles last aprpox 4 months and then I break for anywhere from 18 months to 2 years. Then I start all over again. One time I'll have them in the fall and the next time in the spring (or there-a-bouts). Mia |

Title: Re: Question on length of attacks, remission Post by Kris_in_SJ on Apr 5th, 2006, 6:45pm I'm just like Mia - pretty predictable so far. Average length of each cycle about 12 weeks. Time of remission between 4 and 5 years. However ... I'm well aware that the Beast could change at any time - cycles could become longer or shorter - remissions could become longer or shorter. Therefore, that explains the stash of Imitrex and Verapamil in the basement cabinet. Don't want to be caught short when the monster comes calling. PF Wishes and Hugs, Kris |

I'm with Tom on this one. I am episodic but my last cycle was close to 15 months, then it stopped and now 1 and a half months later the shadows are back. This thing is so unpredictable and individual. |

Title: Re: Question on length of attacks, remission Post by Eye Dee 10 Tee on Apr 8th, 2006, 3:56pm Almost like clock work...Every September/October for five straight years, though these are like mostly shadows 2x day and up to like kip 6 for two months. Two of the last five years my real rippers occur March/April. I am in week five right now, which is the longest I have dealt with in the spring. Different this time also. Started with shadows and more migraine like for a week before the true clusters. Started at 2 times a day for 1-2hrs each with one worse than the other. Progressed to three and just went to four times a day. 1-2 hours long. Occur just like clock work. I am getting tired, I hope they quit soon. Sorry for the ramble, this is probably not the right place for it. Thanks for listening. |

Title: Re: Question on length of attacks, remission Post by StressFree on Apr 11th, 2006, 1:39pm This is an aproximate break down of my CH history: Age 15-20 chronic, hit once a day in AM, started at KIP 6/7 ended up with frequent 10's. Age 20 finally diagnosed as CH, chronic cycle broken with verap & cafergotPB. 2 year break and then a six week cycle, nothing helped. Imitrex and Oxygen seemed to make cycle worse with multiple high KIP attacks day and night. 4 year break and then a six to eight week cycle, Prednisone helped a lot but it took a while for cycle to stop. Pain drugs quit working and had bad KIP 10's at end of cycle. Also KIP 10's lasting many hours! 6 year break and then a six week cycle. Maxalt, Stadol, Prednisone taper, and Verapmil seemed to keep it to only a few KIP 10's. Cycle seemed shorter with less frequent attacks than the last two rounds. If trend continues, next cycle should be in 12 years - or never! Thank you God!!! Please give PFDAN's for all, Amen. |
