Title: Bleeding. Post by thomas on Mar 13th, 2006, 11:00am Am I the only person who gets a lot of blood from their CH side nostril. I always have had this problem, just haven't seen anybody talk about it. |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by maffumatt on Mar 13th, 2006, 11:06am I've never had nose bleeds from CH. It doesn't sound normal to me, I wonder if the increased blood pressure has anything to do with it? matt |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by thomas on Mar 13th, 2006, 11:12am They're not "nose bleeds" per se, but with the nasal "drippage" that occurs, afterwards when I am blowing/cleaning out my nose, there is a LOT of blood in the mucus. |
||
Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by maffumatt on Mar 13th, 2006, 11:20am Maybe from the "strain" of the CH popping tiny vessels? |

That's what I think, just wondering if I'm the only one who gets that. |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by Gator on Mar 13th, 2006, 1:22pm Haven't had that here. Do you do oxygen? Some people report nose bleeds due to the O2 drying out their nose. Maybe it's a combination of the O2 drying you out and what Matt said??? |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by Karla on Mar 13th, 2006, 2:23pm No blood here. Maybe to much nasal spray causing damage to mucus membraines? |
||
Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by thomas on Mar 13th, 2006, 2:28pm Yeah I use O2 but it happens even if I don't use O2. I don't use any nasal spray products to abort. Just curious folks that's all. So far it looks like Vietvet is the only other one. |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by pattik on Mar 13th, 2006, 2:35pm Thomas, I get a little bleeding during the dry winter months, whether I'm having headaches or not. Just the dry winter air in our homes can cause this. I now have a centralized humidifier on the furnace which mostly takes care of it. |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by thomas on Mar 13th, 2006, 2:44pm It's not that either, even when I have had my summer cycle and when I lived down south, still got blood from my nose. I am not asking why, just how many others get it. |

Thaty would be my guess. Your Doc know about it? |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by nani on Mar 13th, 2006, 4:13pm I do, sometimes. I can't say that I've really paid attention to when, but it happens. I do know it happens more with lots of O2 use or when it's really dry. It never bleeds, there's just bloody stuff in there. |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by rapunzel on Mar 13th, 2006, 4:42pm I have had blood also from my nose- not much but it is there. If it was alot of blood, I would definitely end up at the ER, convinced it was an aneurysm. |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by Bob P on Mar 14th, 2006, 9:51am Sometimes. The sinus on my cluster side is permanently shot! Whenever I get a sinus headache, it's on that side. When I go up into the cold, dry Sierra air, that side starts bleeding after a couple of days. CH does cause physical damage! |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by vietvet2tours on Mar 14th, 2006, 10:56am I think that it is just all the goo I blow out of my head during an attack.I'm sure it has got to irritate something in there. Potter |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by CHTom on Mar 14th, 2006, 11:42am I consulted the world famous headache specialist, Dr. Ali and he said that CH people who don't use his treatment actually lose a bit of their brains each time that they blow their noses-I know that I'm getting out the old credit card and will be ordering his metal device that fits on the head. He said it was guaranteed to stop the brain and blood loss. :P |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by Redd715 on Mar 14th, 2006, 8:36pm Thomas, Jody gets occasional minor nose bleeds on his CH side, I don't bleed in that way, but I will blow out bloddy "scabs" on the CH side from time to time, I always just assumed I damaged something in there from all the rubbing, and they are always very deep inside and almost hurt a bit when I blow it out. |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by Lizzie2 on Mar 14th, 2006, 8:49pm I have, but not every time. But I have other nosebleed problems from all the sinus surgeries so God only knows what it's from. My left side is the side that bleeds the most normally, but my CH is on the right. Had a bleed the other night, but I was also having vomiting and some CH's during the day. Made me wonder about the burst vessel.... Do you get high blood pressure? Even if it got really high during an attack, it could be dangerous and causing the vessels to burst. My grandfather died from uncontrolled high blood pressure when he was 51...his only real symptom was nosebleeds. I'd mention it to the doc to stay on the safe side. Know this is probably really unrealistic, but do you have one of those home BP monitors from the drug store? You could check your BP during an attack, if you can tolerate it. Just to see if it gets dangerously high... Carrie |

Mine are mostly bloody scabs as well, but when I do blow my nose it's usually clear mucus with a multitude of bright red blood spots in it, and sometimes there is more blood than mucus. |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by BarbaraD on Mar 16th, 2006, 3:08pm Yeah Thomas, but mine just come every once in a while and bleed like the devil for a few minutes then quit. Like someone hit me in the nose. They've done it for so long, I just never think about it - just hold my nose till it quits. Or stuff kleenex up the nostril. Just figured it was a clot broke loose or something.. Now don't go thinking you're the only one that's got that problem.... :D Hugs BD |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by BlueMeanie on Mar 16th, 2006, 3:27pm Never had bleeding do to Clusters. Maybe it's just dry air or the 02 as others suggested. Do you use a moisture cup ? |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by Sax on Mar 17th, 2006, 12:33pm Hi Thomas, I seem to have dryed clotted blood just before a cluster. I've just had a year's restbite and three wk's ago noticed blood and eye heavyness. sure enough week later kip 4 5 6 and I'm back with beast! Ive alway put it down to blood pressure build up as blood disappears after verapamile gets into system. |

Title: Re: Bleeding. Post by erikadb on Apr 17th, 2006, 12:04am I get it, bleed out of the left side of my nose whenever I have a cluster. No explanation really for it, the docs have looked, just bad luck I guess. |
