Title: F-ed up
Post by E-Double on Feb 14th, 2006, 7:25am
So I drain my E-tank during an attack and I had not fully aborted so I grab a new tank that I have sitting besides it.......

I rip off the tape and hook it up.

It was F-cking empty!!!!!!!!!

The supplier gave me an empty tank!!!!!!!!

That bastard came right back and bit me in the ass!

So pissed.

Did the tango in my driveway running for another one in the garage.

Can't wait to give them a piece of my mind.

What if it were someone who needed it for survival and not pain relief?

E

We use gases at my job and it's not unusual to get an empty tank now and then. When we have a delivery of cylinders it is standard practice to connect a gauge and check the pressure before the cylinder is stored.

Sorry to hear it happened to you.

If it makes you feel any better. I was raced 15 miles home in an open convertable, with a KIP 9, to get to my imitrex once.

There was an injection ready to go in the glove. DOH!

Seems to be a thing with O2 supply companies to save on costs, I went through 3 tanks, all sealed, that were empty the other day while trying to replace one in the back of the rescue.  I'll be a little ticked if I'm the one that grabs a spare during a code or something serious and it's empty.  It's a conspiracy, I swear!!!!!!!!!!   :o
Anyway, hang in there Eric bro, and tell the company you want free O2 for life for their screw up!!!!!!!!!!  [smiley=laugh.gif]

Well, that sucks!

Now keep on sucking Eric, keep those lips puckered and take deep breaths.

Glad to hear you had some back-up not too far away, although I'm sure that at the time it seemed like way too far away.

It's a little disturbing that quality control is not way up on the priority list with a company that supplies medical gases that could make the difference between life and death. One error in this arena is too many as far as I am concerned.  Odds are, that bottle could easily wound up with someone who needed that gas to survive.

That really blows. Sorry to hear that EE. When you're getting hit, it's very hard to think. Panic attacks are common when you've lost your mind meds.

Hey E,

do you know which tank it was?

you might want to mark it so that the supplier knows which it is in case the tank was filled and is defective it won't happen to someone else, or you, if they use it.
