Title: A drug called Lyrica. Post by snyder on Dec 20th, 2005, 4:41pm I just talked to my Neuro. I called to renew my scrip for Zomig. She wants me to start on a drug she says is new called Lyrica. She says it is supposedly a super-Neurontin. Anyone here have experience or anything to share about Lyrica? Bill |

Title: Re: A drug called Lyrica. Post by Cincycluster on Jan 11th, 2006, 12:33am I have been on Lyrica for about 6 weeks now, ever since an auto accident triggered a new chronic set of clusters. It is a new drug that they are using for nerve pain for Diabetic Nerve damage and even amputees who feel phantom pain. I must say it works 100 times better than Topamax which did little but give me kidney stones and mute some off the smaller headaches. THe lyrica seems to knock back my headaches to one or two a day from 6 or 7 and really only one banger as I call it, a day vs 2 or 3. The side effects I have are a loss in my equilibrium, which is usually worst shortly after taking it. I also have some blurriness, not bad enough to be annoying. Others have reports sleepiness, but I haven't had that problem. I have had a noticable appetite increase, which sucks because when I get clusters heay exercise like I typically do make sthem worse so my weight has gone up, but I just have to watch it. I must say I am very pleased with it to date and I am on a mild dosage 100mg twice a day. |
