Title: newbie from sa using xefo Post by Hitgirl on Sep 10th, 2007, 4:43pm Hi Guys! Wow, i was soooo suprised when i found this site, quite unbelievable! I am 23 years old(turning 23 tomorrow!) and have had ch since age 15. I had my first attack in 2 years at about 3:00 this morning, what a dissapointment! luckily i have great medication that you can buy over te counter, xefo. It helps a lot, but i havent seen anyone else here mentioning that they are using it. It really helps for the pain. You guys are in my prayers, good luck to all! |

Title: Re: newbie from sa using xefo Post by Rosybabe on Sep 10th, 2007, 7:59pm Hi Hitgirl! Xefo (Lornoxicam) is an anti inflamatory. It does the same job as a Naproxen pill. It is commonly used for arthritis pain and has the same warning labels as Celebrex or Vioxx (they can be a cause of a heart attack). Personally I never found anti inflammatories to help with my CH, but if it works for you, that is great! Pain free wishes for you! Rosy. |

Title: Re: newbie from sa using xefo Post by Hitgirl on Sep 11th, 2007, 1:35am Hi guys, Thx Rosybabe, wow, i had no idea about the warning label. Thats quite scary! but none the less, i had a good nights sleep, i took one just before i went to bed. Hi there MR_Floor, i havent really tried much, this is the first time in 8 years that i am doing research. Usually just stuck anything in my throaght that the doctor gave or took a shot. I have used medrol(seriously bad side effects if you use it on long term - so i stopped using it), and then i have used xefo, that works like a dream! honestly i preffer using medication that prevents the episode from happening, rather than using medication just when i feel the episode coming on. The sad thing is that there isnt a cure and no one can say what the definite cause is. I have read the letter from "the devil". That really freaked me out. Has any one ever thought that ch can be a spiritual thing rather than a physical thing? what do you guys think? |

Title: Re: newbie from sa using xefo Post by Ray on Sep 11th, 2007, 1:39am Welcome to the family. I wouldn't try to over spiritualize this, but if you are a believer, you certainly can pray about it. Wishing you PF days and nights, Ray |

Title: Re: newbie from sa using xefo Post by Wayne on Sep 11th, 2007, 3:07am Hi Hitgirl, welcome! Wishing you a PF Birthday I absolutely, completely agree that its way better to stop the things from happening rather than to get rid of them when they are. That said you need to be a bit careful with yourself, you don't want to damage another part of you because of your head. Have you been to see a neuro lately so that he can help put you on a proper preventive medication and monitor you if needed. Cheers, Wayne |

Title: Re: newbie from sa using xefo Post by Hitgirl on Sep 12th, 2007, 5:10pm Hi guys, Thx so much for the birthday wishes! I really apreaciate it! I have been to a neuro, but that didnt help at all, all he pratically said is YES, you do indeed have CH...you are the weekest link...goodbye! and uhhmm, go see your local doc for meds. One of te doctors put me on a perpanent dosage of medrol, then I found out that permanent usage of medrol causes a bloating stomach(Physically) and skinny arms(meaning that you are going to look like an ethiopian kid) Since then i have been using xefo(not permanent) i havent had any problems so far and i dont drink more than 2 a day when needed. Has anyone of you had a bad experience with xefo? (please excuse the english and spelling, i am afrikaans) |

Title: Re: newbie from sa using xefo Post by Wayne on Sep 13th, 2007, 8:36am Hi I don't know where in SA you are, but if you're anywhere close to JHB you could go see the folks at the Headache clinic in Parktown, they're the ones who sorted me out properly. I unfortunately have no comment on xefo, hadn't heard of it until your post. Lekker dag verder! |

Title: Re: newbie from sa using xefo Post by MJ on Sep 14th, 2007, 2:09am Happy B day hitgirl Xefo is not approved for sale in the USA. Still trying though. So you wont get too much feedback from the majority here. It is said to be many times stronger than our anti inflammatory OTC meds like ibuprofen and such. Glad it helps you. |
