Title: Hello, Newbie Here Post by blu_ocean23 on May 16th, 2007, 5:05pm Hello, I just found this site, and thought I might join and talk with others who suffer with CH's. I'm 23 years old, and have had this now for a few years. So, I'm just here to see what kinds of things people do to cope, and meet some fellow suffers, too. Have a good day! http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb297/blu_ocean23/A.jpg |

Title: Re: Hello, Newbie Here Post by blu_ocean23 on May 17th, 2007, 11:20am Hello again, Well, here's my story: I started getting these intense pains on my right side of my head when I was about 15. The pain went on for about a month before I went to see my doctor, as I was starting to get really scared (I was thinking the worst, and that it was a brain tumor or something), and the sharp pain behind my eye was so intense it felt like it was about to burst out of my head :(. She told me it was nothing, and that I just had a sinus infection. The headaches stayed for about 2-3 months, then went away. I kept on getting them every few months with remission in between for years ( I went back to my doc a few times after, still got the same story, she wasn't at all a good doctor. I had to beg her for a CT scan, I did finally get one). So, finally a year and a half ago I went to a new doctor, and he said I have cluster headaches. I haven't used any prescription drugs (I'm on Paxil for BDD, and hate having to take drugs) but oxygen does help me, and makes my day a little easier. At this very moment I am suffering with a CH, just started getting them again last week. So maybe people here can advise me on what they take, and what works, then I can talk to my doctor about it. I'm glad there's a site out here for people with this horrible condition, as I know no one personally with it. Thanks for reading. |

Title: Re: Hello, Newbie Here Post by Ray on May 17th, 2007, 2:26pm Dear Blu: Oxygen at a high flow rate is great if it works for you. I use Imitrex injections which work every time for me. These are abortive measures. Preventative measures include, among others, verapamil (a calcium channel blocker). One thing you have here is a group of people who really DO have a clue what you are going through! My best wishes to you for pain free days and nights, Ray |
